Coul dbe a proble with the temperature sensor, go to bad or some wire/harnesses loss.

    ZJ Limited Jun 20, 2012

When the temp gauge goes up, go disconnect the ECT and see if temp goes down, of not you could have a bad gauge or a shorted wire in the ECT.

Are you sure that your cooling fans are working? Check the simple stuff first. check the fuse for your cooling fans to make sure that it is not blown. Also, check for blockage (gunk) in the front of the radiator . Last but not least, you may have a defective thermostat, partially sticking open, and not working properly.

2001 Ford E150 cargo van temperature gauge not working

If the temperature gauge in your 2001 Ford E150 cargo van is not working, there are a few potential causes:
  1. Faulty temperature sensor: The temperature gauge in your van is controlled by a temperature sensor, which sends a signal to the gauge to display the engine's temperature. If the sensor is faulty or has failed, the gauge may not display the correct temperature or may not work at all.
  2. Wiring issues: If the wiring that connects the temperature sensor to the gauge is damaged or broken, the gauge may not display the engine's temperature correctly. Check the wiring for any damage or loose connections.
  3. Blown fuse: The temperature gauge is powered by a fuse, which can blow and cause the gauge to stop working. Check the fuse box for any blown fuses and replace them if necessary.
  4. Instrument cluster issues: If the temperature gauge is not the only gauge that is not working, the problem may be with the instrument cluster itself. In this case, the instrument cluster may need to be repaired or replaced.
  5. Faulty gauge: It's also possible that the temperature gauge itself is faulty and needs to be replaced.

Guages not working,

If all voltages checked ok,then most probably its faulty instrument cluster board on which gauges are connected.Yes if cluster circuit board looks ok,then also it can be faulty.Somewhere there is minute short or burn on board then such prolem arises.
Also check the fuse box.One under hood and other under dash.Inspect each and every fuse and see if all are fine or not.

Fuel gauge sensor

Yes, the sending unit is in the tank. If you unplug the connector at the tank and ground the gauge's sender unit wire to metal, with key on, the dash gauge should jump to full or near full. This verifies the dash gauge is working properly, and the problem is with the sender unit in the tank. If the gauge doesn't move when grounded, then the gauge or wiring from tank to gauge is not correct.
Good luck.
