What cause my van to whistle/squeal at 50 miles + per hour

What could cause the whistling? When going over 50 miles per hour the van starts whistling/squealing loud enough that I can hear inside. The faster I go the noisier it gets. The next day the transmission acts up. It does not get in gear and or the gas pedal falss to the floor. This is remedied when I used the traction control button.

Sounds like you have a squealing wheel bearing.

or if the brakes are shimmed, a shim got bent during the brake replacement. i can't see why a bearing would be going in a fairly new car without some really hard driving, same for the axle(s)/ cv joints.

The power steering pump is normally connected or driven by the engine with a V-belt. A loose belt can cause squealing as soon as the power steering come under load (e.g. steering left or right while stopped).

Check the tension on the V-belt directly connected to the power steering pump. This may need replacement.

Hoep this helps.

If it is definitely a belt, you can buy a can of belt conditioner. You just spray it on with the engine running. Having said that, you said 'whistles'. Belts normally screech or squeal.

MotoMaster Belt-Dressing stops belt slippage and squealing For use on automotive, marine, industrial and home.

You should apply belt dressing to your serpentine belt every month or every 3,000 miles to prolong its life and to prevent it from slipping. Sometimes, depending on the cause of the squeak. Belt dressing is intended as a tool to help you maintain your belts. It's not an easy fix for all squeaks.

2009 elantra SE, whistling sound this morning after a rainy night when i turned the key to start, it had delay for few sec and long whistling noise then started!

What you heard was probaly the drive belt, if it stopped after a few seconds, take a glss of water and pour on belt while running and see if it does it while pouring the water, this also works to tell if you have a bad belt or idler pulleys, if the squealing goes away its a belt if it keeps squealing its the idler. If its an actual whistle, before it starts, who knows......

What would cause whistling noise near pully and belt area noise gets louder with acceleration

The engine serpentine belt may be worn or wet. The belt slips, causing a high pitched squealing or whistle noise. The other possiblility is a bearing beginning to go out on one of your belt driven components

Van brakes squeal/whistle even when stopped

Sounds to me like a dry, loose or worn serpentine belt. With the motor idling, lightly spray the serpentine belt as it's spinning with WD-40 or other oil based lubricant (Don't spray near the alternator). If this doesn't work, turn the mortor off and check the tension and for cracks or worn spots. The brakes will not squeal when you are completely still.

Loud whistling noise when travelling at higher speeds (ie above 50mph)

I had a problem with a whistling car after 50 mph and it turned out to be the front window gasket. I put silicone on the trim and problem solved.
