My 1990 Lexus LS 400 made a loud pop noise and now seems to have less power??/

The car goes but makes a rattling noise while driving, sounds as if wants to die. When you step on the gas pedal doesn't have full power, starts sluggish and won't go, V-8 but seems like a V-4 now.

It is really hard to say what this could be, please have the dealer or a shop that knows this make and model look at the problem.

SOURCE: 1990 Lexus Ls 400. What tempture is my car suppose to run at?

your car should not be near that, it should stay at the middle line or a little under. You need to keep an eye on your radiator fluid level. I just changed the radiator and thermostat in my wifes car. DO NOT DRIVE YOUR CAR IF ITS RUNNING THAT HOT, IT WILL BLOW YOUR MOTOR!!!

SOURCE: LEXUS LS 400 STEERING DOESNT GO DOWN

I had the same problem and took the steering wheel apart on the left side where the lift motor is. There is a plastic gear that controls your lift that is stripped out. I went to the dealership and they wanted $500 for the assembly, they wouldn't sell just the gear. I went home and after I thought about it a while came up with the idea to turn the gear around backwards since the teeth on that side were in good shape. I put it back together and it has worked great ever since. This should work for you with very little effort. I do now however do not hold or apply alot of pressure to the wheel when it is lifting as this is what causes this problem in the first place. Hope this helps you. Todd

1990 Lexus LS 400 Right Front Suspention Thud Noise

most probably a torn lower suspension arm rubber bush that would not show up if the car was on a 4 post hoist
there is a problem there as the noise would not be evident if there was nothing wrong
different tire pressures will give different noise when hit with a tire lever ( a trick used by truck drivers to check for flat/ under inflated tires
good tire solid sound
low pressure tire a dull sound

1990 gmc k2500 new 5.7engine & turbo 400 ,power lose & noise.

sounds as if you may be looking in the wrong spot. If different gearing is drastically changing the symptoms you may want to check the trans. or torque converter. sudden pop with engine rpm increase and lack of power sounds like possible band breakage in transmission or impellor breakage in torque converter.

All dash warning lights came on while driving. oil light, brake light, coolant light, battery light. car continued to run. once home turned off and now wont start. warning lights still come on and car...

Hatterasnc,

You're alternator has gone bad and the vehicle was running on battery power. The "clicking" sound is your now dead battery that does not have enough power to turn over the starter. You might also want to check your power steering pump for leak. This is a know problem with early LS400s and will most likey be the cause of the alternator failure. I just dropped $1050.00 to fix the very same promblems you have.
