I found the third and lst 12mm bolt holding back the Alternator from coming out. There is (1) upper bolt and (2) lower bolts securing the alternator in a 2006 Toyota Avalon Touring Edition. One of the lower bolts is well hidden. Total bolts to be removed = 3. Thanks to all that viewed my postings.on this issue.

I have the same car '06 Avalon Touring), same problem. I can not locate the third bolt. Have removed the serpinted belt from alt & removed two bolts. Alt will slightly pivot but cannot remove. Is there a htird bolt to remove? If so, where the hell is is? Also looks like there is no room to get alt out once loose.

This gave me some trouble too as there is not a lot of room in this area to see what is going on. Turns out there is a 3rd bolt on the inside of the lower alternator arm ... but it is too difficult to reach in place. Fortunately, it attaches to the engine block via an "L" bracket, so just remove the 12mm bolt that fastens the bracket to the block (use 6" extension) and remove the alternator with the bracket still attached. Transfer the bracket to the new alternator before you install it. Go slowly, as you may find another electrical cable zip tied to the back of the alternator.

SOURCE: I need details on how to replace the alternator

Loosen bolt A (pivot) and B (lock-bolt), then adjust C to loosen the belt so it can be removed.

Then, having routed the new belt as the old one was, tighten C until the belt has ~1/4-1/2" deflection with moderate thumb pressure. Then tighten down bolts A (torque to 38 ft-lbs) and B (to 15 ft-lbs).

SOURCE: need to replace broken lug bolt

If you have room behind the broken lug you can usually drive it out with a good smack of a sledge hammer. To re-install, use a stack of washers between the nut and flange and draw the lug into position. (plenty of oil on threads to avoid galling)

the fuse link is bolted in from the two side in the fusebox.you have to un bolt the whole fusebox so you can raise it and if you look at the sides there are two side panels that can be moved down so you can get a socket or spanner on the two bolts apprx 10mm. undo them and raise the fuse out and put the new one in and tighten up the bolts again. hope this helps.

About alternator replacement for 2001 vw beetle gls...I've removed the upper and lower bolts... What am I missing? Alternator still won't budge. Any assistance would be appreciated. Thanks.

all the bolts removed then all thats holding it is the adjustable tube in on the lower fitting ,put a bar in and try moving it then it will move as on the lower fitting with the long bolt is a tube in the alternator housing bracket and this is pulled or pushed out to make contact with the support bracket .Check you havent got three bolts holding it as some vehicles have two bolts on the bottom bracket or one long one

2006 yaries removal of fan belt

- Loosen the alternator (generator) upper adjustable bracket bolt.
- Loosen the alternator lower bolt with 14 mm socket.
- Push the alternator toward the engine block to release the belt and take it out.
- Place the new belt on pulleys.
- Pull the alternator away from the engine block and make sure that the belt is aligned and seated properly on all the pulleys .
- Place a wooden hammer handle between the engine block and the alternator and pull the alternator away from the engine while
monitoring the tension of the belt.

Here's an illustration: Disconnect negative battery cable. remove radiator fan (next to alternator). Loosen upper alternator tension bolts & tilt/move toward engine to give slack to the drive belt. Remove drive belt & then remove lower alt mounting bolt & top tension/mounting bracket bolt. Disconnect alternator wiring/connections. Lift alternator out. Assembly is in reverse order of removal.

How to change the alternator in my 2005 Hyundia Tucson? Can not get the bottom bolt out. What do I remove to get at it.

On the Tucson it is quite easy..... have changed 2 on my 2005 Tucson.....do it in this sequence and you shouldn't have any problems 1st disconnect both cables on the battery then do it 2nd remove serpentine belt... 3rd jack up the car at least where the tire is at least 4 inches off the ground.. 4th remove tire.. 5th remove inner splash guard.... 6th remove brake riser bracket... (2 bolts)... 7th remove upper bolt on alt... 8th remove upper alt bracket (2 bolts)....9th this is the hard one remove the lower bolt on the alt.... the bolt cannot be removed the lower mount actually drops into the mount.... it lifts up.... disconnect both cables one snaps in the other bolts on reverse the order and you can have it done in less than 2 hrs total time
