Car sputtered and then shut down while driving. The indicator light said it was the oil pressure. Is that the case?

I was driving normal speed then truck started puttering, would not move then shut off. Let it sit for about 5 min and turned back on with no problem and no check engine light or anything. Drove about 15 minutes and the same thing happened except this time right before it shut off it said Check engine oil pressure. What could be wrong?

It is possible, but, the oil light will come on anytime the key is turned on and the engine is not running. It will stay on till the engine starts and oil psi is built by the pump. So, there might be another reason to your problem!

Why does oil light stay on when oil level is okay?

The oil light is not an indication of oil level; rather it is an indication of oil pressure. If the oil pressure is low enough to light the oil light, you should be hearing some rattling in the engine. Otherwise, it is possible that the oil pressure sending unit is defective. You are lucky if that is the case, because some vehicles are wired that if the oil pressure sensor indicates low pressure, the engine will shut down to protect itself. You should have the oil pressure checked with a mechanical gauge ASAP and take whatever corrective measures are necessary.

On a 06 Chevy Impala 3.5 what do I need to change when the car shuts off and across the dash it says starting disabled service throttle and the oil light come on and it says low oil pressure engine

Newer cars use what is referred to as "Drive by Wire. Instead of a throttle cable that goes to the throttle body, there is a sensor on the gas pedal and another on the throttle body. The signal from the pedal is sent to the ECM, analyzed, and transmitted to the throttle body to perform the desired operation. If something in that chain breaks down, the car is disabled as a safety feature, so that you wouldn't have, say, a wide open throttle issue to deal with. That is what the "starting disabled, service throttle" means. As far as the oil light and low oil pressure indications, if the key is on, and the engine is not running, these are normal indications since there is no oil pressure in the engine when it is not running.

Could be your oil pressure switch that is screwed into engine block by oil filter. This is the first step in checking problem. Here's a link on removing part from engine. Here's the part.

2002 chevy Tahoe. Was driving fine then gauges started flickering and low oil pressure light came on and lights dimmed. Vehicle shut down. Checked oil and was very low. Added oil and tried to start, just...

It's possible but unlikely. Still sounds like your battery is shot, and if so, jumping it may not work. First I would take it out and get it tested. If OK, your next step would be to check error codes (DTCs) with a code reader to see what's going on.

2000 Mitsubishi eclipse the oil light came on and my car shut down. I added 1 quart of oil and it was full but the car still won't start.

The oil light does not indicate the car is low on oil (based on your discription) it indicates the oil pressure is low, the no start is most likely due to this low pressure and the fuel pump has been cut off to prevent damage to the engine from low oil pressure. Please have a shop locate the cause of the low oil pressure warning and repair it as needed. It could be a false light or a real one, which means if you drove it very far you may have damaged the engines bearings.

My 95 tahoe starts but dont stay on. Fuel wont stay pumping from tbi. Just swapped a motor from 80's camaro. Was running real good in box chevy perfect. Now fuel wont stay flowing out of injectors. Already...

did you install the oil pressure switch origional to the tahoe? The tahoe uses a low oil pressure shutdown, instead of an inertia switch to shut off the fuel pump in the event of an accident. If the pressure circuit does not close within 3 seconds after the engine starts the fuel pump shuts off. This is in case the truck is on its side or upside down the pump will shut off.
