Won't start Just bought a 2002 Olds Silhouette, drove fine the first day, next day won't start, dealership said it had a bad wire somewhere leading to the fuel pump, then said they couldn't find the bad wire so they put in a brand new fuel pump. It drove fine the first day. The next day it wouldn't start. The dealer replace some wires under the front passenger side, said the wires were bad and shorting out the fuel pump. Ran fine the first day, now won't start. This is happening at various times of the day after driving earlier in the day and car seems fine. Tthe weather is sunny and warm (in the 70's)

it could be any thing , start with fuel , make sure there is fuel in the car , then if you have a jumper cable , conected to other car and see if it start , if not then go and check the fuese like fuel pump relay , starter relay ..etc ...dose your car crank when you started or it totally dead like no sound ??
That suggests that the problem is in the harness, something in the connector or wiring is causing an open circuit. You will need to have the circuit tested to find the fault. Ford alternators have known connector issues & new aftermarket connectors are readily available at most auto parts stores.
This is most likely the battery, sometimes you can have enough power for dome lights and radio, but not enough "Cranking Amps" to start the vehicle. Charge it, or take it to an Auto zone or something. They will charge it and test it for free.
You can't fix it yourself. It takes a scanner at your Local Dealership to do it. People do it, (new battery) everyday unaware that doing so can and usually does, arm the theft system and either kills the radio or the whole car. To me it's just another built-in defect that requires dealer assistance. It's a buzzkill I know, and it probably won't be long until car owners won't even have access to the engine compartment.
Sure a back yard DIYER can do it , you just need to learn how the system works ! Is the A/C compressor kicking on when you turn it on ? Watch this The Trainer 40 When the compressor won compress Plus check out someother videos .
