My bosses 1992 lexus ls400 brought in for some servicing. They said it needed valve cover gaskets, coolant level sensor replaced and resurfaced front & rear rotors. I picked up the car and while driving it back I started to notice white smoke. I thought it was just residual oil burning off. Then it was very heavy I took a quick peak under the car and there was oil spewing out all over on the driveway and in the wheelwell of the tires and all over the tires and the underside of the car. It was also coming out of a unit almost in center under car up by engine and sat back right past the tire toward the center of the car. He paid almost $2,000.00 for this work to be done. They gave me an explanation they tightened the seal to tight. Please help me get a better understanding if you can how this might have happened after it was suppose to be fixed and why so much oil was coming out???? They are trying to pull the wool over our eyes. Please help!! Thank You Christina I need an answer as soon as possible please

From Lusty Kid:

The wool over the eyes is correct. If they did not do the job right, then they need to fix it (FOR FREE). If that doesn't happen when you talk to the service manager, then is either small claims, or a darn good lawyer.

Suggest you first try the Service Manager, after all for 2K, and didn't work, I be kicking some donkey.

Changing a thermastat for a 1992 lexus ls400

Yes, a non-certified person could replace something on the car. The person has to understand what he/she's doing, though.
Best way: open the radiator cap and drain the coolant. Leave the radiator cap off until done.
Place a container under the radiator to catch the coolant.
Replace the thermostat, and refill the radiator.
