Overheating 97 V6 pontiac grand am

We took our car to a shop because it was overheating, they said the intake manifold was leaking. We had the work done by someone else and replace the leaking manifold. But the car is still overheating? Any suggestions??

    Need to swap my aftermarket half-ram air intake back to a stock intake manifold in order to pass CA smog and register my car. I did not install the aftermarket part.

Mechanic put bars stop leak in my 1999 grand am se and it is running hot and wany hold coolant
Gm used the Barrs stop leak right from the factory to seal up new blocks. It was the kind made from walnut shells not the metal sealant. He may have used too much if you are overheating. I would do a good flush and go get the bars stop leak in the tablet form, follow directions and see if that helps. I had a persistent leak from my lower intake manifold, already replaced it once, put some Barrs in and now have zero leakage, no overheating either. I would have re-replaced the manifold's gasket but the car is just a beater. Now this stuff is a bandaid not a repair. So if you push the car hard the leak will reemerge.

My engine is overheating my buddy told me it was the lower intake manifold leaking because i had oil in my coolant. i just fixed that and it is still overheating. i turned the heater on and it still did...
COOLANT IN ENGINE OIL CRANK CASE SIGN OF BLOWED HEAD GASKET. HAVE COOLANT SYSTEM PRESSURE TEST FOR LEAKING HEAD GASKET.A GARAGE OR RADIATOR SHOP WILL PRESSURIZE COOLANT SYSTEM CHECK FOR BUBBLES IN RADIATOR AND CHECK FOR COOLANT DRIPPING IN OIL CRANK CASE.

Identified leak in intake manifold hose...has been overheating..2001 mercury villager ( actually Nissan quest ) new radiator, new belts, thermostat, bypassed heater coil, and shop says is intake manifold...
I'am sort of missing something here

Was the radiator blocked or replaced as a guess ?
The thermostat i understand
The heater core by pass i don't,what does that prove ?

The shop says - intake manifold hose.

A hose causing overheating,explain that one.

Loosing coolant almost as fast as its poored in. overheating
If your car has the V6 engine, the intake manifold gaskets are known to fail. they are plastic and the corners rot out . Since there is very little torque holding the bolts in place it doesn't take much for the coolant to leak.

yes. it sounds like your sensor is held in with a retaining clip which looks to have been lost in the swap over from old to new parts. take the car back to the shop that serviced it and tell them about your issue. hopefully not too much damage was caused by the overheating. i hope this helps and good luck!

1996 Pontiac Grand Am overheating
If its the 3.1L it could be your intake manifold gasket , the material used for the gasket does not react well with GM's Dex-Cool antifreeze. The leak may not be apparent at first, but I would pressure test the cooling system. If you look at the front of the motor by the belts , try to peek down at the intake manifold and check for slight seapage to an obvious leak.

If its either of the Quad-4's they were notorious for heads warping or cracking.
