Low idle Hi. My car has been acting up, and now, all of a sudden, when I started it up, it chugs, like it wants to stall and sometimes does. It is fine when I am driving, but when I come to a stop, am in park or idleing in neutral it doesn't want to stay running. Any suggestions? I was thinking timing...

Here is the most common cause of surges and stalls and low idle rough idle, it is the idle speed control air-bypass valve and throttle valve (IAC for short), they get full of gunk over the miles and cause idle issues (stalls, low idle) like yours, Get a can of intake cleaner from any local parts store, not carb spray, intake cleaner, it is made by a company called CRC, remove the air intake hose to the engine, hold the idle high so the engine won't stall, then spray the can of cleaner into the intake while keeping the engine running, use at least 1/2 the can, shut down the engine and disconnect the battery for 5 minutes, then restart and complete a number of mixed driving cycles, town, freeway, stop and go etc., after a few days the problem will go away as the system will relearn to the clean intake.

Pathfinder "cuts out" at 2,300 rpm

Replace your MAF, its a little pricey around $280.00 or so but this will clear the code but make sure you have the ECM reprogrammed to perform a "learning" sequence since sometimes the code will not clear even though the vehicle will run like new. This reprogramming will most likely have to be a dealer performed procedure.

95 Regal 3.8 Runs great but today started

Try a new distributor cap and rotor button,they are known problem areas.If the problem is not in the distributor then you will likely need to replace the catalytic converter,a plugged converter will not let the engine get to full horse power because it can't get rid of the fuel as fast as it is coming into the engine,which is not a problem for the engine at lower rpms but it is a problem when you need the power.

2002 Neon--Car 'chugs' a bit, especially while A/C on/idle

Remove the Spark PLUGS, check the Condition, and AIR gap. If things are suspect, crank the engine to expel the debris,
out of the plug ports, and install new plugs.
I use and recommend BOSCH plugs, for your Model type, they do not have to be Air Gapped, and are virtually maintenance free for life.

1997 ford f-150 stalls if i sit or idle

Hello;
First we need to ascertain the problem. When the vehicle stalls, does it start up immediately? Does it blow smoke out the exhaust on restart? Before it stalls, does it chug and sputter or act like you turned the key off? ALso, which engine and transmission have yoou in this truck?
Thanks;
