It sounds like a bad ground. The coils are grounded through the Ignition Control Module and yours may be defective. The replacement of an ICM takes about fifteen minutes and you can do-it-yourself.

Coil pack is getting hot and no fire is getting to the plugs, plus if i grab the wire that comes off the pack i stiil get a slight shock

I would replace the coil pack, and see if that fixes your issue. You may still get a shock from a bad coil pack, but simply not enough of a punch to fire your plugs!

05 Ford Escape, coils #3 & #4 not firing. We've replaced the battery, spark plugs, alternator, coil packs, & pcm. Had pcm reflashed. Garage said it had to be coil packs, but just replaced coil packs 3

Check engine light on ? Code's ? What engine ? 2.3 l 4cylinder or 3.ol v-6 This vehicle has coil on plug ignition system , not coil packs ! a coil per cylinder . If new coils an still has no spark , has no B+ voltage to the coil or the PCM isn't controlling them . Without testing i'd only be guessing as to the problem .If the repair shop you had it to can only say it had to be the coils , I'd find another shop to take it to !

Knocking sounds coming from either the camshaft or timing belt area the the check engine light is on and throwing a code for a miss fire on cylinder 6 does anyone have any ideas?

a miss fire would mean a bad coil for #6
if you have a coil pack all with all 6 plug wires need to replace it.
if your coil pack has 3 or 4 coils need to replace just the one with # 6 plug
wire in it. most have 2 plugs per coil.
