My car audio system, an original toyota radio, has buttons for both Tape and CD but only a Tape slot, what could the CD button be for?

If that was the case, the face of the radio would open up exposing the CD slot when you push the button, maybe the face is stuck.

2000 Buick Century. Put in a replacement radio/cd/casset player. Radio works, clock works, but CD and casset do not. The message comes up E 13. What does this e code mean?

if its a radio shack radio, it means E13 means "Tape Communication Error". It is caused by the
microprocessor reading speed pulses from the tape deck either too fast, most other makes mean about the same thing, normally a stuck tape will cause this code to show up, either that or the drive gear that loads and unloads the tape is broken, cracked, or jammed

Problem is the radio cassette is locked how to

Hi, If you mean the cassette tape is stuck in the player, you can try prying it upwards and outwards to see if the player will release the locking pins (car on, radio on). If it wont, the tape deck is shot, only way to get it out is to disassemble unit. (Not worth the trouble, put yourself a CD player in there about $100)....MIke

1983 Cadillac Sedan deVille radio cassette player problem. The cassette player gets stuck in forward position and makes a clicking sound but no music. The tape does not turn. Belt seems to be fine. It will...

If the belt is fine then the pinch roller must work to pull the tape with the capstan working.
so please open set and get glimpse to see if the pinch roller is engaging. If not the loading mechanism is not working. you will need to see if the reel drive is also working. So unless the mechansim is checked there is no question of the sound coming out.
So see that the loading engages the pinch roller to pull tape and the reel drive to gather the winding, if not reset loadding mechanism .
However if the tape moves and there is no sound then the head preamp, the tone amp or the output amp can be faulty. You can use a signal test to confirm the section.
credit if this helps

Tape stuck in player - error code e13 shows

I just got a tape unstuck myself. Everytime I would hit eject it would make a clicking noise.

Here is what I did:
First I watched these videos to remove the radio.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=29MTa4FLjtk&feature=channel

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fqvk_PNo9Kg&feature=channel

Then I unscrewed the bottom panel of the radio.
Unscrew the brass screws holding in the cassette player portion of the radio.
Now flip the cassette player over to see your tape, etc.
When I pressed the eject button, I noticed a little motor with a worm gear would move a a gear which moved several other gears until it eventually moved a black gear which has a little post that moves the metal arm which moves back when pushing in a tape and moves forward when ejecting a tape. But I would get a clicking sound which seemed to be due to one gear trying to move a stuck gear.
I forgot the exact details of how I managed to get the tape out, but when I did get it out I noticed when I turned on the radio, it would act like it was trying to play a tape. But when it found out it couldn't, it would try to eject but would fail once again with the gear clicking sound.
I think I tried moving the black post on the black gear that moves the arm that pushes the tape out. Eventually I got to the point where the arm was pushed forward like it should be when a tape is ejected. At that point I was able to insert and eject a tape without any problems.

Have a cassette stuck in my 98 Buick Century Custom

sometime you can get luck by taking out the tape player and there will be a small hole somewhere on the player that you can stick a paper clip through to release the tape player. Otherwise gnetly stick a screwdriver under the tape to see if you can get it to release. no guarntees on that last one
