The yellow car and lock symbol that appears on the dashboard of your Pontiac G6 indicates that the vehicle's security system has detected a problem. If your key has a plus sign symbol ( + ) on both sides of it, then it must have an electronic chip and it needs to be programmed. The key looks just like any other car key, except for the plus symbol that is on it.

Security and Immobilizer System Indicator Symbols Symbols & Tell-tales
These are Security and/or Immobilizer System Indicator symbols used by manufacturers. One of these symbols lights momentarily to indicate that the ignition switch is locked and will need the proper transponder-equipped key to re-start. The vehicle is immobilized otherwise. Green symbols will flash when the vehicle is immobilized.
If the symbol is visible when the vehicle is on, it indicates a malfunction in the security system. If the engine does not start with the correct key, and the security indicator remains on, the system may have a malfunction. You will need to contact your dealer in either case.
Keep the Symbol meanings with you!

You need to carry out the periodical car service due (e.g. engine oil & filter, air filter, fuel filter, cabin air filter). The "service" spanner symbol "reset" button is placed on the lower right corner of the dashboard. See picture below:


Then you should reset the "service" spanner symbol by pressing on the "reset" button on dashboard, when ignition key is in OFF position. Hold the button pressed and turn ignition key in ON position. Hold the button pressed and see on the dashboard successive numbers will appear: "10", "9", "8", ... , "1", "0". Then release the button and switch OFF the ignition key. The "service" spanner symbol followed by "20000 km" (or "30000 km" depending of the engine type), will appear for few seconds after turning ignition key in ON position, and will dissapear after engine starting. The car service due was reseted.

This symbol is usually your security light it flashes when the vehicle is locked. It comes on solid and goes out after it recognizes the key. And it flashes fast when it thinks it's an invalid key

That is a symbol for the immobilzer system in the car. Your keys have chips inside that are programmed to a computer in car. If the computer inside car does not recieve the signal from keys the car will start and then shut right down. Its an anti theft feature. It seems that there maybe something going on with your immobilizer system. If all keys work fine, have the dealer scan the computer for any codes.

It's the security system. That is a symbol for the security system of the car, you can deactivate it by placing the key in the key slot.

You should get that symbol anytime the key is away and the doors are closed. It's normal.
