Coolant wont take a charge air compressor wont kick in

Several things, as its 2012 is it not under Toyota warranty? if so free fix at dealer. check for blown fuses, when u say won't take charge is it leaking out? if so then need to look at all the parts of a/c and look for oil stains where it leaked out, or you may have over charged and the safety is locking out the compressor, at auto stores they sell a/c pressure gauge for about 10$. possibly damaged wire, sensors, too many parts for a novice to really check properly and possibly dangerous if you vent system and your in the wrong place, with out any protection. I hope your under warranty, best safest solution, if not a blown fuse or obvious oily leak spot, better to have a professional check it.
