Battery went dead, charged it up, and now the emergency light are blinking after I turn off the switch. Was told at Subaru Deailer, it's part of the Security system. I do not have the remote, and there is a sequence to the key in the switch to turn off these lights and keeping them from running the battery down.
The only help you can get is service and repair manual from the given link and get the solution easily http://toolsnyou.com/

Suspect faulty flasher relay. Relay is somewhat like an "On/Off" switch. If it fails, it will stick ON or OFF..in your cause it is ON allowing the hazard lamps to work continuosly without enabling the hazard switch. If the relay is tested good then replace hazard switch.

Don't know if your battery was the issue or not, but I just bought an '02 Forester, the security light blinked steadily any time the key was not in either 'start' position or car was running.
I discovered that the system had been set to 'valet mode' prior to my purchase or I accidentally set it in the first couple days... The fix was easy, laid out in the owner's manual.
