2002 Nissan Frontier timing belt

When should the timing belt be replaced on a 2002 Nissan Frontier?  The one I'm looking at buying has 88,000 miles on it.  Any other major service issues I should look at with this mileage?

Timing belts are found on the 3.3L engines, timing chains are on the 2.4L engines. The 2002 3.3L Timing belt is changed at 105K during the major service. This service can run over one thousand dollars. It is recommended to replace the belt, tensioner and idlers, cam and crank seals, water pump, and both belts when changing the timing belt. That way, you only open up the front of the engine every 105K. Why change the timing belt and have a water pump start leaking only 20K later and ruin the belt with antifreeze? Other items during the 105K are a major tune up with all the fluids changed and a lube. This does get expensive. You can break it up into several blocks of time and spread the related service items out over a few months to take some of the sting off.

On every car you should replace the timing belt every 60k to avoid
engine damage . so if you want to keep that car you know what to do.

2000 Nissan Frontier 3.3L VG33E engine. Drove it to the store and when i came out it would not start. I determined the timing belt stripped at the crank gear. I replaced the belt. I am pretty certain that...

Nissan markets its D22 and D40 pickup trucks in North America as the Frontier. A six-cylinder 3.3-liter engine with a double overhead camshaft is standard for the D22 models. The timing belt for this engine keeps the camshafts synchronized with the camshaft, enabling the engine to run smoothly. The timing belt has a limited lifetime, and typically requires replacement after 60,000 miles.----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Nissan frontier will not start, will turn over but wont start.. gives p0340 code

what type frontier is it?? is it supercharged or not? p0340 is a cam position sensor issue. sensor is build into the distributor. by what you are saying, the distributor may be faulty. have you replaced the timing belt at 105k miles?? if belt is broken, distributor will not spin and vehicle will not start.

At what milage should a timing belt be changed on a 2002 Nissian frontier crew cab?

60-80,000 miles is a great benchmark for ANY vehicle. nissan recomends 105,000 miles which seems a little excessive to me. be careful because this engine is listed as an interference motor and WILL cause internal engine damage if it was to break.

Just wondering if you're supposed to change the timing belt in a 2002 nissan frontier at 100,000 miles.

I would check with a Nissan dealer and see if thee 2001 has a medal or rubber timing belt, if medal, no if rubber yes.

What is the recommended schedule for replacing the timing belt

Find out if you have a rubber belt or a chain belt. Rubber every 50.000 miles, chain 100.000 miles.

My 02 frontier sc turns over but wont start high pictched sound when ignition is turnin over, timing belt? was driving and it shut off on its own

how many miles? it could be the timing belt. some engines will destroy valves, etc. when the T-belt breaks. that is why the mfg. insists you change it between 60-90k miles. i'm not sure if nissan is one of those that causes major problems to the engine when the belt goes? better safe than sorry, change @ the recommended interval. good day.

I'm about to purchase a 2002 Nissan Frontier with 88,000 miles on it from a dealership.  I'd like to know when the timing belt should be replaced, as I might have them do it as "part of the deal".

DONT BUY IT. There is more than the timing belt that is wrong with it. Some dealers do that **** just to make a quick buck. I dont like it. Sorry to inform you, but if they dont know how to change a timing belt, or know when it needs to be changed, they dont need to be in business. Sorry to be so blunt but I try to be as honest as I can.
