Engine on 1992 b250 continuously just dies seems like an electronic ignition problem

This has been happening off and on for two years at various times. The van just dies and sometimes will start right back up and other times it won't for a while or the next day.

Ask a local mechanic to have a look for you ,couldnt tell you without head under bonnet and good play around as and when this fault appears ,check the electrical switch on the back of the ignition lock first

SOURCE: Dodge Ram B250 1994 - has a Starting Problem

if you van has a security system in it, it could be causing this problem. they usually disable the starter circuit. Paul has listed good places to start. but if they don't fix it do this: when your trying to start but its not working have some one check voltage at the starter. there are 3 points to check 1: where battery cable connects 2: where starter connects to solenoid 3: small wire that operates solenoid. if there is voltage at all three point replace starter it has a shorted / open spot on armature. voltage at 1 and 3 but not 2 replace solenoid. voltage at 1 but not at 3 and you have already checked the items Paul identified check wiring between neutral safety switch and solenoid.

SOURCE: 98 dakota engine dies

timing chains either go out or not go out, there is no such thing as an intermittent problem with a timing chain, what about the ignition module? it is sensitive to heat, and like the crank and cam sensors can cause your kind of problem. U did not mention fuel pressure either, electric fuel pumps can stop from heat when they get near the end of there service life (100,000), this is even more common if the fuel tank is run below 1/4 tank allot, this overheats the pump in the tank because it is not covered in gas, that is how it is cooled.

SOURCE: I have a 1990 Dodge

the numbers are 12, 41, 55
12- direct batttery inut to controller disconnected within last 50 ingnition key-on cycles
41- alternator field circuit- an open or shrted condition detected in the alternator control circuit.
55- final code - indicates the end of the scan codes

I've replaced the alternator and checked all the wiring still can't find the solution. I've posted to find out if the alternator control circuit can be repaired.

1994 lincoln continental randomly dies while driving. It's getting fuel. What else could it be?

Thankfully, mine has never done that....if by 'body control module' you're referring to the electronic 'black box' that monitors various inputs and controls timing/ignition to make the car run; then it seems like you've already covered most of the obvious things that could be at fault, here. If by 'dies'; you mean the car actually stalls out while you're going down the road? Does it immediately restart after it happens, or does it have to sit for awhile, before it will fire up again? Do you lose your digital display (+ radio, fan, etc.) when this happens--or does everything turn off, then it all comes back on--except for the engine? Since it never happens when idling, it could be some kind of intermittent electrical problem--(ground strap coming loose?) caused by the vibration/bounces of driving....I'd look there first.

What's wrong when the engine dies while driving a"?"

Many possible reasons: air and fuel filter blockages, check and replace as necessary. Electrical fault in ignition system, take car for a full electrical and electronics diagnostics check. This problem may be the result of any of various old and failing components. Check specifically the sensor inside the distributor (electronic ignition)! This is known to give "intermittent" fault symptoms.

hi if the check engine light comes on i would start by changing fuel filter or fuel pump, however sometimes sensors dont trigger the check engine light and if it doesnt come on i would pull out the cam and crank sensors and clean them as they maybe dirty and causing the spark to die randomly

Frequently will crank but not start

the problem must be with the batteries. check the voltage levels of the battery using a voltmeter. if it goes lower that 10v and fast dying, then replace them. and also check the alternator charging the battery for any charging problem.

Ignition coil, transistor, rotor, distributor cap or other component in ignition circuit like ignition switch- may crank but no spark. In that order. Good luck.
