Can you be more specific?
Is there a component that is wired through the steering column that has a problem? Turn signals--horn--cruise control--whatever, I need more info?
I don't believe I have an over-all wiring diagram for steering column, itself?
What is year--make--model of vehicle? Right now, I'd say, check the wiring circuit to and from dimmer switch. Could be dimmer switch, itself?
With wiring diagram, you can find proper color wire from steering column to low beam, everything on, see if voltage on that wire. I'm speculating that the dimmer switch controls voltage to low beam and not ground.
Under the dash, find wiring harness that goes into steering column, find proper color wire, test. If no voltage, when there should be, I think the problem is in the steering column, either wiring circuit or dimmer switch.
auto zone can in most cases print you out at no cost and if not can sell you manual with diagrams in it and everything else on your car for around $20.00.....good luck..
There are no wiring diagrams for the "steering column". Wiring diagrams show the wiring for circuits, not the parts of the car that the circuits just happen to be fastened to. For instance, if you are having trouble with your horn, or if you are having problems with your turn signals, you would look up the wiring diagram for the horn, or the diagram for the turn signals, not the wiring diagram for the steering column.
i had same problem in my truck. the a/c wire in column is a thicker red wire, hooked into like a black relay box. either that relay box is bad or because of using the tilt, the wire cracked and needs to be re-spliced. that was my problem and it fixed it
