Torque specs rocker arms
One thing I notice that none of the experts are picking up on is that these trucks although appear the same and have the same size motor is that they changed in 2000 to 2004 from the previous engines, the rockers and lifters are different and the specs and procedures different, so if you ask for advice for your 2001 and someone responds from their experience on their 99 or 97 it's not valid information.

Step one 37 ft lbs then tignten 120 degrees more
Rocker arms
Step one 11 ft lbs then tighten 90 degresss more
Upper intake
89 inch lbs
Lower intake
132 inch lbs

99 chevy malibu v6 3.1 engine, head bolt torque is-- 98 through 2001 is step1- 37 foot lbs, step 2- rotate an additional 90 degrees (1/4 turn). the rocker arm bolts are 168-in. lbs.
