Spuddering in the heat

The first thing you should have done was go back to the gas station and complained. If you can prove you bought the gas there, the station is on the hook for the cost of repairs. They have insurance to cover it. Then you take it to a shop to get it fixed.
You may have to change the filter screen in the tank since there is no external fuel filter on the car. And that injector may have to be replaced too.

I would go to Autozone or Advance Auto Parts or your local engine technician to have the code(s) scanned off of the OBD-II connector (1996 and up cars have this connector).

Many parts stores like Autozone and Advance Auto Parts will not charge for the service and it can lead to a diagnosis of which system to address regarding the poor gas mileage and the high idle, spuddering, stalling, etc.

It sounds like the air bypass valve is not closing after warmup and this sounds like a temperature related problem. Air bypass is used much like the old choke on carburated cars for cold starts.

have u got a check engine light on?If yes then you may need a computerised diagnostic to get an error code and proceed further..

good chance with that problem you were close most likely a misfire will cause that. it would be either your spark plugs or coil pack. also make sure your vacuum lines are good and air filter is good. also bad gas can cause that problem. the worst outcome would be your throttle body going out on you.

A good pump and a bad one look identical; problem with the bad one is that after running for a while, it gets hat, begins to bind and then stops. Once cooled down, it will repeat the process. Even when pressure testing, it may "seem" fine but not be., 'till it gets bad enough to show up during testing. Your crank position sensor can act the same way, so can an ignition coil. (internal expansion during heating shows internal shorting.) When in "no start" check for spark. This should separate fuel problem from ignition related stuff. Then, go from there. Do real testing...guessing and replacing parts can cost you a fortune.

aif it is the fuel pump, it is located inside the gas tank as part of a unit called fuel pump module. this module houses the fuel level sender/float also.

Sounds like a plugged exhaust system to me... check the tailpipe... try to smother it with your hand while wearing a oven mitten. You should feel pressure building up... check the feel of the pressure with another vehicle. Mufflers do come apart inside and pieces get stuck in the tail pipe forcing the engine to idle or even just stall out... In this case you are fortunate to get 10mph. Good luck....

This one has the old points and condenser system?
I have had condensers cause this same condition before but your comments of bad gas or carburetor needing work or replacement are very possible.
Is it a specific "timed" miss-fire or does it seem random.
