Hyundai Tucson '07 a/c started blowing warm air & overheating. Turned the heat on & it went down. Turned the a/c & heat off. Got stuck in traffic overheated again. Is this a water pump or thermostat

While there are a variety of reasons your Hyundai Tucson is overheating, the most common 3 are a coolant leak (water pump, radiator, hose etc.), the radiator fan, or a failed thermostat.

My Nissan overheated.Water went in the motor... Motor does not make any nose or rattle when started.mechanic said the water pump needs to be changed.please explain why water in the motor if it's pump

I can't explain why water in the engine means bad water pump, but... Overheating can certainly be caused by a bad water pump. Water in the cylinders or in the oil after overheating is typically caused by a blown head gasket, and you can't really fix that with a water pump.

I think your mechanic either needs to do more checking, or is trying to get you to do an inexpensive task, so he can discover an expensive one while he has it apart, and you can't take it somewhere else.

New water pump' thermostat, purge line. not heads or gaskets and still running hot

You say "Water pump thermostat" do you mean Thermostat or water pump? If you replaced the thermostat and still have an overheating problem then look at the water pump itself as the problem if that is replaced and you still have the problem then you have another problem in the engine or a clogged radiator core. You may have a lubrication problem in the motor, if the oil pump went out or your low on oil then the engine may be overheating from lack of lubrication. Another thing that will cause overheating is if the Fan is Electric and not activating or if the radiator fan is mechanical the clutch is not allowing the fan to rotate free when you are driving.

My car overheated instantly and then it had a grinding sound when i tired to start it. It will start at all. Could a bad water pump cause it not to start? Or, what's the problem and how do I fix it?

the waterpump may have went out, leaked out all the coolant, and depending on how badly you overheated your engine, you may have serious problems as to some engines dont handle extreme heat very well. you might want to get professional help

Overheating and now engine 'clicking noises.

possible causes of overheating are, dirty cooling system, clogged radiator, bad thermostat. Use only distilled water with a good quality coolant.

still overheating? have your top head checked - warped head, valves, valve seats, etc. You might need to have your engine's compression checked if it is still within specs.

1997 montero sport 3000 24valve v6

The most likely senario is that the water pump went bad which caused the overheating in the first place. Then after the engine shut down, the water pump seized up. When the engine was restarted, the timing belt started to smoke because the water pump, which runs off the timing belt, was not turning. Since the engine overheated to the point of shutting down, blown head gaskets are a possibility. Put a new timing belt and water pump on it and start it up. If it runs OK, you're good to go.
