Ready mix is ok, but usually more expensive than buying the regular and mixing it 50/50 with distilled water. The ready mix is generally the same concentration as mixing your own 50/50. To be sure, check your 50/50 mix or the ready mix with a tester, it should register close to -35 degrees F.

My 2000 Cadillac North Star 4.6 On the dash reads..Check Coolant Level...I have installed a new overflow tank with a sensor installed...full of coolant, still comes on Can anyone help...Thank You..

There's a good chance the float in the sensor is stuck so use something like a screwdriver handle to tap on the tank near the low coolant sensor also check the radiator tanks for another sensor. Have you physically checked the coolant in the radiator (must be done with a cold engine) the recommended coolant is a 50/50 mix of Dex-Cool and clear water. I hope this helps. Take care.

How many gallons of antifreeze will it take ?

Anti freeze is mixed on a 50/50 basis. The coolant capacity varies so check the hand book for capacities and mix the anti freeze to water before adding to radiator. Drain radiator first so as not to mix different anti freeze products.

Can I replace my dex coolant with regular antifreeze? in my 1997 chevy malibu and how

they say you cant mix different coolants but you can go to auto-zone etc, and buy a cheaper anti-freeze for general motors products. its a 50/50 mix for all gm cars and trucks.you can add this coolant to any brand of anti-freeze. its called universal type anti-freeze. to run a differant anti-freeze in it, you have to flush out complete engine and radiator because the dex-cool and the green stuff do not mix well and cause engine corrosion etc. dex-cool is reccomended for all chevy engines. good-day !

Replacing leaking hose and refill with anti-freeze/coolant. What is the proper fluid amount and mixture?

The correct mixture/temperature scales are printed on the bottles of all good quality anti freezes. You can purchase a special hydrometer from a motor spares outlet that will give you the exact freezing point of you coolant, ti repeat, the mix depends on the minimum ambient temperature you expect to be driving in.

Engine head skimmed and replaced how does one install water 2.5i engineie bleed system tom make sure no air pockets

you want to use a 50/50 mix of anti freeze & water. The best way to avoid air trapped is to have a shop do evac/fill with their vacuum equipment. ABout $85.

To do your self, have radiator as high up in the air as you can get it by rasing the van. Then pour in coolant slowly until it's full. Keep track of amount you put in. Then start engine with radiator cap loose until return hose is hot. This means thermostat opened and coolant is flowing. Keep radiaitor and reservoir full. Tighten radiator cap & let it cool down. It will **** coolant from the reservoir as it cools, so keep it full.
Repeat if you did not get proper amount in.

I have a 2004 6 cylinder Chevy Impala. It overheated and I had to leave it. Tomorrow I want to bring Coolant with me and fill the radiator - What kind of coolant do I need?

there is coolant at auto parts that will mix with any coolant, unless you take water with you i'd get the 50/50 mix. if you take 1 gallon full strength anti-freeze then take one gallon water and pour equal amounts

How many gallons is radiator fluid

On the 4 cylinder you will need 1 1/4 gallons of antifreeze mixed with an equal amount of distilled water for a 50/50 mix. On the V6 you will need 1 5/8 gallons of antifreeze mixed with an equal amount of distilled water for a 50/50 mix. Make sure and use the correct type antifreeze.

Antifreez type 1991 volvo? 4cyl

Volvo would like you to believe you need their o.e.m. and pricey anti-freeze to keep your cooling system from falling apart. NOT! Any good quality anti-freeze will perform well. Just be sure to mix it 50-50 with water when adding or changing, or using the 50-50 premix that's sold ready to use. More expensive because you're paying anti-freeze prices for water! I have used off-the-shelf anti-freeze in all my Volvos, which run 300,000 miles or more. You can extend the life of your radiator, water ump etc, but flushing the system every year or so, draining off the old coolant and adding a fresh mix.

Engine coolant has turned to a gel and engine overheated

The reason that your anti-freeze is gelling in your rad is that the mixture of anti-freeze and water is too weak. this could be because of old anti-freeze(same as oil,it deteriorates over time, usually 2 to 5 years), or there could just be too much water added. I would suggest a cooling system flush, and re-fill with a new 50/50 mixture of water and anti-freeze.
