1994 chevy astro weak spark coil to ground, has new coil!

Astro V6 1994, Has weak spark. If you remove center dist. wire and hold it slightly above ground, the spark is yellow and doesn;t have a snap to it. If I put a plug on it and ground the plug, same thing. I've installed a new coil, nothing changed. This test eliminates all of the plug wires and spark plugs. Has a completely new distributor. Has 12v at coil. The only thing I can see that is left is the ground thru the coil which goes thru the computer.

I would stick with the coil. There are bad parts right out of the box. Exchange it one more time. Verify wiring to the coil too. Verify there are no broken wires.

I'd check for vacuum leaks next. use a spray can of intake or brake cleaner. spray around vacuum lines, manifold gaskets etc. if the rpm increases you found a leak.

2000 chevy astro van 4.3 v6/I changed dist.cap 4 times in 1 year rotor too/runs rough,hesitation,bad ildeing,could it be dist.gear /shaft are worn/got code po300

code p 0300 is random/ multiple misfires
each p 0300 code ( 0301,2,3,4 etc) indicates the piston at fault
this code can be from electrical , ( cap plugs wires etc ) but is mostly attributed to problem injectors and ecm injector controls --wiring and connections
check the other areas for the fault as you may be concentration on the wrong area

No spark at plug wires, but have spark at coil on 2002 chevy astro van

Is it a strong spark at the coil? If it is to weak it won't travel through the wire.

1996 Chevy Astro Van--"Will not

I would check the rotor very carefully. They tend to burn a hole through the plastic under the center tab. It's hard to see sometimes. The spark follows that path instead of to the wire terminals. You may just want to try a new distributor cap and rotor.

I HAVE A2000 ASTRO VAN IT QUIT WHILE DRIVING. I TRIED TO START BACK BUT BATTERY WENT DEAD, SO I GOT A BOOST, IT WOULD CRANK BUT NOT START. I GOT BATTERY TESTED IT WAS NOT HOLDING ENOUGH CRANKING AMPS SO I...

The fuel pump pressure shoud be 55-61 psi . Check for spark by removing a ignition wire at a spark plug and put a spark plug in wire and hold to engine ground and crank engine , if no spark then remove coil wire at cap and repeat. If still no spark then coil , module,,crank sensor or pickup may be the problem.
Check fuel pump pressure first and if available check for codes for possible crank sensor.

I need a fire timing order for a chevy astro van v6

THE FIRING ORDER IS AS FOLLOWS : 1-6-5-4-3-2.
CYLINDER NUMBERS (front-to-rear) :
LEFT (driver side) 1-3-5
RIGHT (passenger side) 2-4-6

To set ignition timing, ensure that engine is at operating temperature, (190 degrees or above), bypass EST (electronic spark timing) by unplugging the single tan wire with a black stripe from the distributor. Ignition timing should be set at 0 degrees or TDC (top dead center). If not, loosen distributor hold down bolt and adjust, then retighten.

Astro Problem

Ok First lets check the spark. Go in Steps first check to see if you have spark from the ignition coil TO the distributor cap by carefully pulling the coil wire out of the distributor cap, always grab by the boot not the wire never by the wire and wtist gently and pull slowly . once out hold the coil wire close to a ground and have someone crank the engine you will be ok as long as you do not put your hand over the end of the coil wire! Ok if there is Spark there Great, now reinstall the coil wire in the cap. Now go to a spark plug wire and do the same procedure but the plug wires are a bit different on the plug end than the coil wire so you may ned to put a phillips screwdriver in the end of the wire and hold the screwdriver close to a ground be careful of any moving parts like the fan! If you hve spark Great if not you need a distributor cap and rotor (USE ONLY FACTORY GM PARTS) it's very very common in the Astro van
First do these tests and get back to me at
[email protected] and we'll move on to the next step if we need to.
