Where is the ECT sensor located on 2004 XJ8 4.2 Vanden Plas

Is the coolant full ? Thermastat good ? The sensor is located on the engine .

Top left side of engine below the throttle body


Relieve coolant pressure.
Loosen the 2 air intake duct clamps and remove the air intake duct.
Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in engine electrical.
Disconnect the ECT sensor electrical connector.
Using a deep well socket and extension, remove the sensor.

Check the O2 sensor. Probably bad.

p0193 sounds like a ip sensor circuit malfunction the p1111 is system check has been completed p1000 system check is not completed..that number will check from 1000 to 1111 when the car has ran a complete self check of itself.

facing the car from the front it should be at the left hand side at the rear, take fire wall shelf off for an easier access.

if its a v8 its on the underside on the flywheel/torqueconverter housing in the centre 8mm bolt or torx head close to the subrame crossmember if its a x300 straight six its on the top front above crank pulley 8mm bolt.

you will see it to the front upper portion of the engine near the coolant induction piping, and it has a grey female connector plug...just a rule of thumb,if this plug isnt snug or come lose the cluster display will show the engine overheating.
