Probably no need to see an expensive mechanic. My seat belt warning light came on a few days ago when there were four people in the car and the rear seat belts weren't fastened (I thought that was why it lit up). However, the light came on and stayed on when I was the only person in the car. Logically, it suggested a bad connection somewhere, so I checked the connector under the passenger seat and made sure it was properly fastened together. I then sprayed a small amount of WD40 into the female clasps of both front seat belt connectors, clipped and unclipped the belts a few times and the light is now fine. Try it - it worked for my 2003 Escape.

SOURCE: Ford Mondeo Mk3 Estate 2L. Air bag / seat belt Warning Light

Common fault on FORD
Usually due to a poor connection in the YELLOW PLASTIC CONNECTOR underneath the passenger seat.

Just push it together properly and it should clear the AirBag fault

SOURCE: while driving my 2004 ford

seat belt flashing has nothing to do with the starting ,sorry but you will have to go to a dealer to have the software read correctly ,yes its american built vehicle that can be read with a reader for the emmisions test ,but the rest of it is encrypted for sure and the newer the vehicle the higher the encryption ,and if it was a europeon market model then i cannot even read the vin number let alone the emmisions test ,just reads cannot connect to vehicle .

In my 2006 ford fusion 2.3L whenever I put my key in the ignition and turn it a weird solid ringing sound start and stops 5 seconds later hat could it be?

Not surprisingly, many others have experienced problems with the ignition switch on this car. Historically, it is not a sound, but that the key is stuck in the ignition. http://repairpal.com/key-will-not-come-out-of-ignition-570 Your problem sounds different, but it may be related. Although I do not recommend the fix in the link above, it is possible the previous owner of your car did perform this fix and it has resulted in the problem you now have. My better guess is that the chime/buzzer has failed due to moisture or dirt and is no longer producing the sound that it should, but instead is altered to the ringing you describe. To disable follow these instructions:

1. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN (or ON) position. (DO NOT
START THE ENGINE)
2. Wait until the safety belt warning light turns off. (Approximately 1
minute)
Step 3 must be completed within 50 seconds after the safety belt
warning light turns off.
3. For the seating position being disabled, at a moderate speed, buckle
then unbuckle the safety belt 9 times, ending in the unbuckled state.
(Step 3 must be completed within 50 seconds after the safety belt
warning light turns off.)
After Step 3, the safety belt warning light will be turned on for three
seconds.
4. Within 10 seconds of the light turning on, at a moderate speed, buckle
then unbuckle the safety belt.
This will disable the BeltMinder feature for that seating position if it
is currently enabled. As confirmation, the safety belt warning light will
flash 4 times per second for 3 seconds.
This will enable the BeltMinder feature for that seating position if it
is currently disabled. As confirmation, the safety belt warning light will
flash 4 times per second for 3 seconds, followed by 3 seconds with the
light off, then followed by the safety belt warning light flashing 4 times
per second for 3 seconds again.
I hope this helps. Good luck.

My 2003 for escape ...the seat belt light flashes while driving but my seat belt is fastened..i tried to undo it and put it back on but it still did it.

Check under the seat for a wiring harness being loose due to recent cleaning or getting wet with window down during a rain.

Light flash code 47 is for the passenger seat belt buckle pretensioner. This could be either an open circuit or resistance issue.
