SOURCE: The tachometer on my 92 Honda Prelude Si works but the factory speedometer isn't whatsoever.

Its probably your speed sensor mounted on the back side of your transmission on top of the final drive gear. Its the sensor/plug located just under the shift linkage. Make sure its bolted down tight and check for any loose connections.

Try taking all fuses out (engine bay box and larger fusebox to right of drivers right foot), checking for poor/dirty fuse contacts. Check all visible wiring plugs/sockets for looseness & wire damage (could be rubbing of something). Could be something loose going to ECU box.

2005 chevy cavalier gas gauge doesnt work goes into the temp gauge and when i try to put gas in it spills out like it is full.

It sounds like the fuel gauge sender unit is faulty, probably causing a wiring problem with other dash dials. Also sounds like you already full of fuel. The float and sender unit need checking and/or replacing.
(float in fuel tank). The fuel tank needs to be drained completely to do this work. Is it something you can do ? If not, it's not a major operation for a mechanic and the parts are cheap. Good luck... Red.

I have a 92 prelude and it is over heating. Not over heating in idle. Over heating when I coast in neutral or going up an over pass. I've checked the rad and coolant system seems to be cycling fine. No...

Transmission could be running hot. Most times tranny fluid also runs through the sides of the radiator. Or a transmission cooler somewhere near the radiator and in some cases will make temp gauge rise

Hii I'm new to cars. My 92 prelude gauge still

Hello,

I understand being new to cars, but that is ok. I am hear to help you. Some cars run hot, that is normal in a lot of cars. As long as it does not go into the red or way over the half way point your ok. But this is what I would do, this will make sure that car water temp/engine temp is working properly. First of all check your engine oil and make sure it is full at the dip stick. And then do the same with your radiator, make sure it is full with antifreeze. Also, you can have the antifreeze checked, they can test it, to make sure the right mixture of antifreeze and water are proper mixture. If not enough antifreeze compared to water ratio is off, then that can cause some over heating or possible over heating issues. So, in conclusion: first things to check is engine oil level and antifreeze level and mixture. I hope this helps you, thanks mike, expert fix ya man.

About the Gauges, in the circuit of the front panel, it have a transistor that suply more or less 8volts to the gauges (gas and temp). Is possibly broken. You must replace it. But first, clean it with a contact cleaner; if the problem continue, replace it. Good Luck.
