How do you change turn signal lens - 2009 GMC Canyon

There are two spring clams that hold the assembly into the fender, and these are at either side of the assembly, there is usually a screwdriver slot near either side. Gently pry the assembly out, and remove the lens and back, the bulb sits in the twist assembly in the lens. Replace bulb with a clean hand, so that oil and dirt don't get on the bulb surface, pull bulb straight out from socket, and replace by inserting bulb back in socket. Voila. Replaced Turn Signal Fender light.

Here are some few tips to help out. Firstly, remove the screws retaining the headlight and trim assembly. Then carefully rotate the headlight and trim assembly away from the vehicle, rotating the inboard side away from the vehicle. Remove the side marker, parking and turn signal bulbs and sockets from the headlamp and trim assembly. They can be removed by turning them. If you are replacing a lens, remove the retaining screws for the lens to be changed and remove it from the headlight door.

When removed, install the removed lens assembly. Then, install the bulbs and sockets and install the headlight and trim assembly. Make sure you check the operation of the lights.

Front Turn Signal and Parking Lights
1991-96 MODELS

1. Remove the lens upper retaining screw and the fender side retaining screw.
   
2. Slide the lens assembly forward until access to the rear is possible.
   
3. If necessary, unplug the bulb electrical connection.
   
4. Turn the bulb socket assembly counterclockwise and remove it from the lens.
5. Depress and twist the bulb approximately 1?8 turn
   counterclockwise, then remove it from the socket.

6. Align the bulb's locating pins, then install the bulb in the socket.
   
7. Attach the socket to the lens and turn it clockwise to engage it.
   
8. If removed, attach the bulb electrical connection.
   
9. Place the lens into position, then tighten the fender side and upper
   retaining screws.

Peel back the trunk lining to reveal three wing nuts. Remove wing nuts to pull lens cap away from car. To remove bulb socket push on the rectangular button (the release) while pushing on the end of the socket to unlock and spin counter clockwise to release. pull out old bulb and reinstall lens cap.

The screw that holds the lens must be unscrewed. Then,
you can replace the signal bulb. Put the lens back in place, and it's all done.

turn signals are replaced one of two ways from the inside or the outside. #1 If they are replaced from the outside there will be a couple of screws on the out side of the lens take these out and the whole lens will come out turn the socket on back of lens and the bulb will be right there push bulb in and turn change bulb and reassemble. #2 you have to get at it from under the hood look from on top of signal or look up from under car you must get to the socket turn it and the bulb will be there push bulb in and turn replace bulb.

There are 2 bolts on the top corners of the bulb lens that needs to be removed then the lens pops right out and you can change the bulb.

Yes, I would remove the entire headlamp assembly. This is easier than you think. Unscrew the large black plastic nuts (you should be able to use your fingers, if not then use a pair of pliers) which are on top of the headlamp lens (2) and the turn signal lens (1). The turn signal lens also has a metal screw-in stud attached to it. The headlamp lens lifts straight up and is attached to the turn signal lens by a clip at the bottom. The turn signal lens is attached by a clip to the inside fender. You will need to pull / **** the turn signal lens straight towards you to get the clip to disengage. Once you remove both lamps you will see how they fit together to place them back in position. It takes approx 15 minutes to replace a bulb, since the alignment during re-assembly is a bit tricky.

you can see two screws holding this lens assembly, remove them and you can slide the lens off the cavity.

the wires and socket would be exposed, twist the socket counter clock wise and the bulb would be exposed.

replace the bulb and do the reverse in installing the signal light assembly back to the cavity.

Front Parking/Turn Signal Lights:

• Remove the screws from the the lens and separate the lens from the bezel
• Remove the screws from the turn signal housing and pull it out
• Turn the bulb socket CCW 1/3 turn and remove it
• Installation is the reverse of this procedure

Side (Front) Marker Lights:

• Remove the screws from the marker lens
  
• Separate the lens from the headlight
• Pull the bulb from the back of the lens
• Installation is the reverse of this procedure
