How much oil and trans. fluid to change?

I just bought a 1997 hyundai elantra wagon- auto transmission. I want to switch to Amsoil signiture series synthetic oil/ filter and amsoil transmission fluid. I don't have an owner's manual and don't know how much oil and trans. fluid it will take to fill to proper levels. Can you help me out?

Also, the window washer doesn't function- can you point me to a possible solution?

Thanks kindly- "kiarra"

Check washer motoer as they jam up but often have problems with connections more often than not ,engine oil about 4.5 litres with filter ,gearbox ??never worked on an auto here in spain as spain only has macho men and autos are for tonto americanos and old people from northern europe.but getting all the oil out the transmission including the torque converter is going to be a job, remove the plate behind bell housing by the sump and turn converter as their may be a drain plug but i think this may only apply to older cars up till 1970 but have a look.As for this syncthetic oil i wouldnt bother use the cheapest from supermarket and change every 5000miles .all honesty your wasting you money on a shopping/golf course run around .trust me on this oil thing dont be blurbed by the publicity i used to test oil in ford dagenham factory and paying lots for a fancy container and beleaving the publicity ,trust me on this one

I have a1997 accent1.5 auto trans it do not want to drive when fluid get warm but rev.pulls better

Check fluid level and condition. If it smells burnt or is not a healthy red, then do change the fluid and filter. If it still does not work properly after the fluid and filter change, you will need to have the transmission looked at by a good transmission shop.

2001 hyundai elantra gs, the car shifts for the first 30 seconds into drive, then down shifts into second and stays there. diagnostic codes po765,po755, tran oil is brown color 121000 on car, what do you...

Unfortunately I believe it is beyond a simple Fluid and Filter change. Once the Fluid is Burned and you get fault codes your going to have to have the transmission rebuilt.

When does the transmission filter and oil need to be changed on a 1997 hyundai elantra?

You should change the transmission fluid and filter every 15,000 to 30,000 miles or every two years.

Is there a auto trans filter on my 06 elantra ? maintenance book just tells about fluid change

if there is no filter on the outside of the trans(looks like an oil filter) then the filter is the non serviceable type and does not get replaced with the fluid change

My 1999 hyundai elantra 1st and 2nd slipping in tranny

You should have some type of guarantee from a car lot or dealer. If private seller, then go to a reliable trans shop and have them change the trans filter and fluid. Its not good to have oil there, but it is not caustic and a trans shop should do ya.

Trans drops into 3rd gear won,t shift to 4th

DTC P0734 is "4th gear incorrect ratio" - that's your torque converter 'LOCK UP Clutch" It's worn out (or you're using the wrong Trans Fluid required by Hyundai - SPIII OR Both). The P1624 is simply the Trans Control Unit (computer) communicating to the Engine Control Module (ECM computer) MIL - on request signal to ECM = asking it to turn on "Check Engine" light. MIL = Malfunction Indicator Lamp. When the torque converter 'lock up" clutch slips or doesn't engage, the trans automatically returns to 3rd gear and stays there (it's called 'fail safe' mode) until you cycle the ignition key, then everything resets until the malfunction occurs again.
You'll need to have an AT (Automatic Transaxel) tester hooked up to verify this. Hyundai has a Service Bulletin specifically for "gear incorrect ratio' codes. If when you changed the trans fluid, was it done at a Hyundai Service Center? If not, someone may have installed the wrong fluid.
