My 2000 BMW 740i gets stuck in first gear but only when the weather is hot, over 90 degrees. Already had the tranny rebuilt by a professional and it has been working great in colder weather. Usually happenws when I am driving slow in traffic or when I am in a drive thru, but only when it is really hot outside. Any ideas??

you could have a faulty sensor or a loose connection to said sensor. your trans control module needs to be checked by a diagnostic scan tool at a shop there they can check the module and see if there is a fault in you drive train. i doubt it's an internal problem with the trans....please rate this....thanks

Check the following :
BMW Code PO128
This means that the engine's PCM detected that the engine has not reached the required temperature level within a specified amount of time after starting the engine. The intent of the P0128 code is to indicate a faulty thermostat. Similar codes: P0125
In determining the engine did not reach a "normal" temperature, it takes into account the length of time the vehicle has been running, the intake air temperature (IAT) sensor reading, the engine coolant
temperature (ECT) sensor reading, and the speed of the vehicle.
You will likely not notice any drivability problems other than the MIL illumination.
A code P0128 may mean that one or more of the following has happened:
solutions
Past experience indicates that the most likely solution is to replace the thermostat. Verify coolant strength & level

before you try to start her again in hot weather, open your fuel filler cap, listen for any pressure release, close the cap, and try to start, if this works, then its just heat expansion in the fuel tank, replace the filler cap if this is the case
SOURCE: no heat thru vents on my 740i bmw, fan works
there are two pipes going into the car under the hood right in the middle of the hoods back wall check if they hot if no then you will have to clean your radiator system and heater boiler
