Reach from the back of the T-Housing Loosen the bottom bolt on the T-Housing...it\'s slotted..remove the top bolt and gently wiggle it out of there. Don\'t take off the exhaust crossover manifold like the repair manual says. reach in from the back and spend the next 20 minutes turning that bolt bit by bit...all the while thinking about how much it would suck to have to take off the exhaust crossover...it does. I had to take off the Computer, air box, throttle body, and water crossover pipe. This job is aweful, good luck

The heater doesn't work very well on my 2000 Chevy Venture van. I'm wondering if I should try replacing the thermostat. Or, it is all computer controlled now.

If heat gauge reads normal, stays in the middle, then you do not need to mes up with the thermostat. I own a 2000 Chevy Venture and changing the thermostat was not fan.
It may be the Temperature Control Module, which you can buy for $45 and replace without problem, or may be an partially obstructed heating core. The GM Dex-Cool antifreeze, the read one, has additives, but if you do not flush the radiator every 2 or 3 years, can result in partially clogged heater core. I have done on my car twice till now, and replaced with green Prestone, on my own risk. Hope this will help. If need more information let me know. A have the Haynes manual for Chevy Venture 2000, and I am a car dealer.

Engine is running hot what could cause this after changing termostat and water pump

You could have a plugged radiator if your not losing water otherwise you could have a bad head gasket, cracked head, warped head if you are losing water.
