2003 monte carlo, radio plays, but none of the buttons work, no display

I had a cassette stuck in the radio/cd/tape deck for probably 4 years. I decided it was time to remove it. The radio worked, I could play cds, play the radio, and listen to the stuck tape. After I successfully got the tape out, the radio no longer has a display and none of the buttons work. I can still turn the radio on and off and change the station with the dials, but there is no display and no buttons work. Any ideas?

All you can do is remove the radio and have it repaired by a local approved GM radio repair shop.

SOURCE: 2003 Chevrolet Monte carlo blower

Most likely not the switch. Either a bad motor or bad resistor. Check the connector at the motor also.

Cassette wont stay in ,late 90's radio. I put it in but just keeps ejecting

The eject button is stuck (probably got some stuff splashed on it). Take the face plate off and clean/check area around this button for goo, dirt, or damage.

My car audio system, an original toyota radio, has buttons for both Tape and CD but only a Tape slot, what could the CD button be for?

If that was the case, the face of the radio would open up exposing the CD slot when you push the button, maybe the face is stuck.

Problem is the radio cassette is locked how to

Hi, If you mean the cassette tape is stuck in the player, you can try prying it upwards and outwards to see if the player will release the locking pins (car on, radio on). If it wont, the tape deck is shot, only way to get it out is to disassemble unit. (Not worth the trouble, put yourself a CD player in there about $100)....MIke

Is it possible to install a 3.5mm headphone jack input from an ipod directly into the car stereo? I don't want to use an fm transmitter. My '04 Mazda3 comes with the 6-disc cd changer but no tape deck or...

I have a 2003 Mazda MPV that has the stereo that you could add a cassette deck or MD to...I do not have either, but there is a button for it. I found a guy on the internet that made a chip that plugs into the back of the radio and has a 3.5mm jack on it that will play when you push the cassette/md button on the radio. It is great....sounds just like one that came from the factory.

Audio display says check cd

This may be a bit late to help, but I just had the same problem yesterday. Same car (2000 Monte Carlo SS), but mine is just the CD/radio stereo (no cassette). I was able to solve it by pulling the fuse for the radio (it's in the right-side panel) and letting it sit for a minute. After putting it back in, the CD player made the disc ejecting sound one time (no "check CD" message) and stayed off. And now it seems to be working fine. We'll see how long it lasts, though.

2002 chevy monte carlo stero problems

The stereos antitheft isnt armed is it. This makes it so the stereo wont work until it is disarmed by typing in a 4 number code for your car. Its only supposed to arm if the power is cut though such as the fuse was pulled or the battery was disconnected from the car.
