SOURCE: Problem with AC, dual climate zones

The temperature blend door on the driver's side might be broken or stuck. Also, if this vehicle does not have the correct amount of refrigerant, it will do what you are describing.

SOURCE: 1998 Cadillac Deville low refrigerant a/c

I have a 1999 Cadillic Deville. The low Frefrigerant indicater come on after about 15 minutes of disconnecting the battery power. Each Time I reset the power the air conditioner comes back on for a while then goes out. I have taken it into the local auto repair place and they find no problem with the unit.
Could this be a intermittent connection to the computer. They have replaced both sencors and the problem persists. Where is the computer located on the car that handles this AC sensor message?

Where do i add freon to my 1995 cadillac sedan deville ac

Freon is allways added to the low-side service port. The service manual does not een mention where the service ports are on your vehicle. The service manual assumes that this is being done by a trained technician who knows how to find the ports.
For help in finding your service ports, go to http://acprocold.com/ There you will find instructional videos and you may also find your vehice in their database with pictures of where your service ports are located

My dash reads refrigeration low/ no ac. My mechanic added 2 pounds of freon and installed a new relay switch. The ac still will not come on and the compressor still will not turn. Please help!

the compressor may be locked up, make sure that you are getting power and ground to the plug on the comp. and if you are not then the problem may be in the high or low preassure switch, if ther is + and grount then try running a jumper wirefrom the comp. to a ground and one from the comp to the pos. side of the batt. and see if the clutch kicks in and out if it does then run the engine and run the same test and you will be able to tell very fast if the comp. locked up. more often then not it will be a preassure switch

I HAVE A 1998 CADILLAC DEVILLE THE A/C/ WENT OFF AND THE COMPRESSOR WENT OFF HOW DO I RESET BOTH..

OK, if the A/C system has been discharged of R134a for any length of time, the car may have to be reset by disconnecting the battery and reconnecting after a few minutes.

That's the way my 1990 Cadillac Deville is, as it's a safety measure for preventing low freon level operation of the compressor which can damage the compressor.

My 1997 Cadillac Deville Limo hasn't had any leakage issues, so I don't know if this would work on that late of a Cadillac.

After adding r134a to the low side, and if the compressor doesn't work, then this could very well be your problem.

Good luck on this repair.

AC comes on, then shuts down before car is cooled. Compressor activates and blows cool air for about 15 seconds then shuts down.

Low on R134a, you need to have the system recharged. Try to stay away from the do it your self kit that most Auto Parts store carry.
Below are normal car AC pressure readings with 134A

Normal readings on high and low side with AC OFF (static pressure) – Depends on outside temperature, but normally is between 80-105 PSI

Normal low side reading with AC on high speed and MAX & engine at 800-1000 RPM’s – Ranges from 25-35 PSI

Normal high side reading ranges from 200-350 PSI

Don’t assume that if adding little Freon is good that adding a lot is better! Overcharging just a little can decrease the performance of the system and possibly damage the compressor.

Thank you for using fixya and good luck.

A/c compressor not working added freon but it

Either the system is still low of freon,or the sensor (one of them)is bad.The sensors are on the high side of the system, liquid line.If you will get on chat,I can help you with this,it will take a while,I will need to know how much freon was added. And what the system is doing,is the ac clutch engaging, etc?Ask for ronicon, when you click on chat with, type my name in,roniecon, with your text, that you are writing .

1996 cadillac deville compressor stopped, new compressor and dryer put on, but unit will not accept freon. Please help.

Sometimes, you have to start the vehicle, turn on the AC (Hi setting), and jump across (bypass) the low side pressure switch - to allow the compressor to start running and draw the freon in through the low side - make sure your fittings are correct and otherwise - Did you pull a vacuum on the system before you attempted to add refrigerant? I would highly recommend it - removes air and moisture....

95 Deville - Low Refridgerant/AC Comp. off

To diagnose problems, an A/C manifold gauge set is needed to read high and low side pressure readings. Avoid adding refrigerant with a simple charging kit like the ones sold at parts stores. Don’t add any stop leak, this can cause problems in the compressor, expansion valve or condenser.
Keep in mind that using an A/C gauge set and seeing BOTH high and low side readings can help in diagnosing the problem when you know what to look for. First, on a 134A system the high and low side service ports are different sizes. AC gauge sets have color coded hoses, the blue color coded hose has a connection that fits on the low side service port and the red hose has a connection that will only fit onto the high side. The yellow hose won’t hook up to anything if just checking the readings; it can be used to connect to a vacuum pump or attached to a refrigerant can or tank.

Normal readings on high and low side with AC OFF (static pressure) - Depends on outside temperature, but normally is between 80-105 PSI
Normal low side reading with AC on high speed and MAX & engine at 800-1000 RPM’s - Ranges from 25-35 PSI - Note that on many Chrysler products a normal reading on the low side may be 15-25 PSI
Normal high side reading ranges from 200-350 PSI

Don’t assume that if adding little Freon is good that adding a lot is better!  Overcharging just a little can decrease the performance of the system and possibly damage the compressor.

Both low and high side readings are lower than normal, this indicates a cars AC system is low on refrigerant and is under-charged.
If both low and high side readings are too high, this indicates an overcharged system - too much refrigerant. This also can indicate that the condenser fan is not working, is too slow or the car is overheating and heat is transferring from the radiator to the condenser.

Good luck and hope this helps, keep me posted be glad to answer any question you may have. And yes the A/C system on your car uses R143a and there is a A/C pressure switch along the low pressure line or on the accumulator, it looks like a oil pressure sensor with a two wire lead cliped on it.
