I have a 96 ford Taurus, changed the caliber, wheel bearing and rooter. When I tighten the wheel down, I can no longer turn it buy hand and I can feel the drag when driving the car. Please help!
I figured out the problem and corrected it. The brak pad on the outside of the calipper was not seated correctly, it was tilted causing it to rub against the rotor when the tire was tighted down. Easy fix. I replace the pads correctly and no more issues!
Thanks to all who helped me.
Also try removing caliper and mesure the thickness of the brake pads if the outboard pad is to thick it will cause the caliper to hit the wheel.
You may have overtightened the retaining nut on the rotor holding the rotor on. try removing the wheel, remove the cotter pin and loosening the nut 1/4- 1/2 turn. when re-installing the wheel, recheck by spinning the tire. it should spin freely. over-tightening a wheel rotor can damage the bearing and cause it to overheat, even to the point of causing a fire.

How much are u tightening the wheel nut? Tighten til wheel won't rotate, back off one half turn. U need some freeplay or it won't spin. Let me know if this fixes it. If not, we can continue to fix it.

Thanks, I will try it and then post. The rotor does spin freely until I tighten the tire down. Don't know if that matters or not?
