Remove buick 2000 lesabre glove box with out key

Something has gotten in lactch of glove box and it will not open. I looked for bolts on bottom side of dash but box still in place LOCKED up

  • Anonymous May 28, 2012

Took a stiff coat hanger and made a small hook on end, Took 2 flathead screendrivers and made box lid move away from latch. used the coat hanger to remove clip holding lock. was able to reach lock release with finer and needle node pliers. Problem was really : Bad lock and latch alignment, I had to make a retaining wire from latch bolt to keep release in line. Workin great and NO Holds or other damage.

SOURCE: How to reset a check engine light on dash board?

First, if the problem still exists, resetting it will only bring it back.  Fix the problem, the light should go off.  If it doesn't, disconnect the battery, both terminals, for about 10 minutes.  Reconnect the battery and that should take care of it.

Trunk latch

Check in the glove box for a push button to open trunk. Also along the driver's side floor sill (between the seat and the door). Along the bottom of the dash on driver's side, check there too. My son has a '92 Lesabre, and there is no trunk release-only the key opens the trunk.

How do i put a ignition switch on a buick 1997 lesabre

The ignition switch is on the top of the column, below the instrument cluster. You will have to remove the right side air bag, so you should disconnect the battery so you can safely unplug the connector. Both lower access covers left and right, have to be removed. The drivers side pannel has the fuse box, you will have to release the fuse box to get the pannel out of your way. It has a locking tab on the firewall side of the box, and then it pushes up through the pannel. The knee pad that goes the full width of the dash has to be removed to lower the column. The wood grained trim above the knee pad, to the left and right of the column, pops out using a flat tip screw driver, exposing some of the screws neccessary to remove the facia surrounding the instrument cluster, heater controls. air bag ect.. Next you will have to remove the vents to gain access to screws hidden behind them, turn them slightly off center and pry them outward using a flat tip screw driver, first the top and then the bottom. With all of the screws removed, the facia will pop out, it has four spring clips accross the top. You will have to put the gear selector in low gear for enough clearance to remove the facia. This should expose the bolts to remove the right side air bag and the knee pad. The right side air bag connector is under the glove box, unplug it and unclip the harness from the vertical metal support behind the glove box, the glove box will drop down further for better access after you pull the rubber limiters to one side. There are four 10 mm fasteners accross the top of the knee pad and three on the lower side, one of the three lower bolts is hidden behind rubber trim under the glove box . The knee pad should pull free of the dash, There are a few wires attatched to the ashtray, to fully remove the knee pad you will have to unplug these. Knee pad removed you will hace access to the underside of the column, unclip the gear selector indicator string from the lower right side of the column, disconnect the ignition switch plug (7 mm bolt), unplug the dimmer switch. Next remove the four vertical bolts that hold the column in place, starting with the two closest to the firewall, then lower the column. The steering wheel should rest on the seat, you can now remove the ignition switch. The screws securing the ignition switch also hold the dimmer switch and a ground wire, be sure and check adjustment/ function of both switches uppon reassembly
