My 2000 S10 will not start when the weather is cold. It will crank but wont start, once the weather warms up it starts fine. Have a new battery and starter. THANKS!
Well i ask a mechanic at one of my stops and he told me to replace the fuel pressure regulator and the fuel filter and to take the throttle bottle off and clean it. this is the problem on my truck. its been crankin ever since. i done all of that. if it work let me know. my email is [email protected]
I have the same problem and i think i have tracked it down to weak ignition coils. i should be able to tell you tomorrow if that was the case or not.
i just did some more work on the problem, and it looks like a new coil fixed what was wrong with mine. here is the reasoning that lead to the possible solution. when it is cold outside (below 32F) my truck turns over but will not fire. originally i was told that it was probably a bad temp sensor causing the injection system to flood the vehicle. i changed that and it did not help. i pulled the number 3 plug and grounded it to something to see if i was getting a spark. the truck fired right up. i put the plug back in thinking the problem must have just went away, and the truck would not start again. this lead me to believe that with all the plugs in, there was too much amp draw from the starter in the cold to fire the coils. upon further testing i noticed that i would get a spark just after i let off the key while trying to start with the plug grounded again. i put a new starter and new battery on and that helped somewhat. today i took the coil packs off and ohmed them out. they were barely getting into the good range at about 75F. i put them in the freezer and ohmed them again. the resistance on the secondary dropped to mere points above the lower limit of the good range. i replaced one of the coil packs because the parts store did not have two in stock. my truck seems to start fine now. tomorrow will be the real test though because the temps are forcast to really drop tonight. i'll post back and let you know if it was a solid solution or if it needs more work.

I'm having the same problem and was wondering if it could be the coil pack?
My 2000 s-10 is having trouble starting when its cold outside. I've replaced the battery, alternator, spark plugs and wires, and the idle air control valve. It turns over, it's getting fuel and a spark. Battery does not completely go dead after trying to start it a couple of times. It just flat out won't start when its cold. Could it be the coil pack? Also we checked the idle air control valve by tapping on it while someone else turned the key over. That made it start a couple of days ago when it was below 0. So I replaced it thinking that was the problem. Does anyone have any other suggestions on what it could be?
my 2000 s-10 pick up has the same problem. it wont start when its cold. i was told it was a cold temperature sensor switch or cold stating switch which i never even heard of. but i can spray stater fluid in it and starts right up and runs and cranks up all day. can anybody help me
