First the sensor in the rear gearbox may be bad or corroded for sensing wheel speed. Also the engine wiring harness may be falling apart. From 1991-1995 the US made MB use biodegradable material on the wiring. When the insulation cracks you get shorts in the system. The same wires are in your EHA on the air inlet area. Check and replace as needed.

Common causes for High-pitched noise from rear wheels are:
The wheel bearing: this is not usually dangerous in the short term, but I recommend contacting a mechanic and having it fixed. To test the wheel bearing, you lock front wheels, and jack up the car rear and spin the wheel (handbrake unlocked). If bearing is worn you hear a drone. When is the bearing, often car starts vibration above 40 mph.
Noise from bearing can be continuous, intermittent, only when steering, only when hot.
The brake pads: when brake pads are worn out they start making a squealing noise, in this case the noise is only when you brake or continuous. When you jack up the car the wheel may be a little stiff, but not necessarily. When brake pads are completely gone you also hear a scratching noise when braking. Inspect your brakes immediately.
Other suspension problems: Jack up the car as suggested above, check if the wheel has a slight play on the sides. Check all of the suspension components, suspension mounting points, and
steering linkage for damage. Also, check the frame rail for wrinkles. It is very important that these
components be in good condition, if you notice any problem here, go immediately to a mechanic.
Try doing the simple test above, reinstalling the wheel and working the tire back and forth. This
is a common test for bad ball joints and wheel bearings.

SOURCE: My 1989 mercedes 300e won't start. Not getting any fuel
I had the same problem, my car would not start after parking it on the street. I followed protocol by checking vital components like spark to the plugs - OK had spark ...next was there fuel to the injectors - not sure because plug should be wet...but where dry. This can be misleading because injectors are mechanical and opens with vacuum from compression. Then I checked the two fuel pumps and one was bad, so I replaced both with a fuel filter also. The fuel relay was fine but I replaced it anyways. Now you would think it would start but no go.
At this point I was confused so I double checked all the connections electrical, fuel and so on. Luckily I stumbled onto a vacuum hose that connects from the IAC valve to the bottom of the fuel distributor that was disconnected. Wow the car started and the car is running fine, or even better. I think my problem was a combination of a bad fuel pump, vacuum leak and neglect. So try checking some of the things I did and maybe it will fix your problem.
Sincerely
Jon
