2001 sonata blows only hot air

My 2001 Sonata blows only hot air whether I'm using the AC or not and at all speeds. It's not extremely hot but uncomfortable. With the AC on, it is slightly cooler but not much and certainly not what it was. I recently changed a faulty blower resister with an exact duplicate. I tried disconnecting the battery as suggeted by several people to reset the electronics on the flapper dooor but that didn't work. Suggestions welcomed.

First make sure the AC system is fully charged, with a gage hooked to the low pressure side the pressure reading should be 28-32 PSI. Also take note if the AC compressor is turning off and off continuously in short bursts, the indicates a low charge and if the charge is low you have a refrigerant leak somewhere. If that is all ok and system is not low on charge you may have a defective air temperature control blend door problem, either the door is sticking due to being warped or the actuator motor is defective or both, most times both are a problem. the part is only accessed by removing the entire dash assembly.

SOURCE: change spark plugs 2001 4 cyl hyundai sonata

You change One spark plug, and One wire at a time. Do you know where your timing belt is? If not, its on either the right or left side of the engine. There is a covor to the timing belt. You take the First plug that is closest to that belt. Then you work your way to the next closest all the way to the last one. Remember, you have to do ONE at a time.

I agree with 'motgor1258'... replace the blower resistor (it's actually a power transistor).

I posted this solution for this same engine on the 2001 Kia Optima. It is Exactly the same 2.5 V6, and the instructions are exactly the same. I recommend replacing the plug wires. Please see 2001 kia Optima for the rest. Good luck, it's fairly easy.

How do I replace ac heater resistor in my 2001 hyundai sonata

Could be a bad blower motor or fan switch. There is no resistor in the HVAC system aside from the many built into the electronic control boards.

No heat 06 sonata only blows cool air

it most definitely is your blend door. It's a bit of a hassle but in the end it doesn't cost anything but a sore back/neck and hands. Take your time. remove glove compartment, and you'll see the blend actuator. I unplugged mine as it was stuck in 'cold' mode. after re-plugging it worked again and has been fine since.

Check your front panel where the controls are set for heat and AC. Are they working fine? If yes, you might need to check gas for AC. it might out of it.

Sounds like you have a plugged up catalytic converter. You cant clean them it will need replaced. If it is the 4cyl engine, the converter is the exhaust manifold on the front of the engine.
