2007 Suzuki XL-7 Theft Deterrent Work Around for Battery Jump

Battery appears to be drained on our 2007 Suzuki XL-7, roadside assistance tells us that we need a jump but also need to bypass/work around the "Theft-Deterrent" system. They sent out two companies to assist (also insisting they would know how to do the work around) but both were clueless when it came to the "Theft-Deterrent" system. Does anyone here know how to bypass this system so we can instruct the next company how to complete the jump correctly? Roadside Assistance tells us they actually do not know. Car is stuck in our carport and nearest dealership is an hour away. Please help.

SOURCE: Recetnly purchased a used 2003

i would say thats a good idea, if you got an extended warranty! from most of the symptoms i would say it sounded like your alternator was hooped. the clicking from the dash...if it's coming from the engine side it sould be your solinoid which clicks back and forth to open and close the circuit to send the signal for the started to crank when you turn the key. why it would be on when everythings is off and then shut off when you open the door i don't know. sorry i couldn't more (if any) help

How do you reset the theft system (for the car, not the radio) on a 1996 pontiac sunfire se. the battery went dead and the car has been sitting for a month now. the car will not start with the key. it will...

Your vehicle is equipped with the Passlock theft-deterrent system.
Passlock is a passive theft-deterrent systemT. he system is armed once the keyi s removed from the ignition. Passlock enables fuel if the ignition lock cylinderi s turned with a valid key. If a correct key is not used, fuel is disabled.

During normal operation, the THEFT SYSTEM light will go off after the engine is started. Ln the unlikely event that the engine stalls and the THEFT SYSTEM light flashes, wait until the light stopsf lashing before trying to restart the engine. Remember to release thkee y from the START position as soon as the engine starts. If after several tries the vehicle still does not start, the vehicle may need service. At this time, you may also want to check the fuses. See your Pontiac dealer for service.

If the THEFT SYSTEM light comes on while the engine is running, a problem has been detected and the system may need service. See your dealer for service. In an emergency, call the Pontiac Roadside Assistance Program at 1 -800-ROADSIDE or 1-800-762-3743.

Tried to start my 2007 suzuk xl7 all i get is clicking noiseand lights

Have you tried to jump start it? Are the cables at the battery clean and tight? If no corrosion at tight connections, then this sounds like a battery problem (low charge, or shot). Lights, radio, etc may work, but there isn't enough power in the battery to crank over the engine, resulting in the 'clicking' noise you mention. Pull the battery out, bring it to a parts store for a free check of its condition. If they tell you it's low charge problem, you may need an alternator, but most likely the battery is at the end of it's life.

Check the start solenoid, starter side, when you turn the key... The battery side will always be hot, the starter side should be hot when you turn the key.

Turn the ignition on and nothing and the key wont come out! but the ciggarrette lighter has power

WD-40 the key hole and try tapping the keyhole lightly to get it lose. Sounds like it is just jammed. Don't be to forceful. Just because you can turn on lights or anything like that doesn't mean your battery has enough battery to start up. So try to jump it if it doesn't work after that.

After car sits and all oil drains into oil pan, then disconnect negative battery for 10 minutes and reconnect. Otherwise if resetting doesn't help turn the light off, the sensor may be faulty and need to be replaced
