My 98 Hombre had the warm hard start issue as well, replaced fuel pump, the purge pump, charcoal canister and the fuel management device, also checked injectors for leaks. The problem the whole time was the starter so check that first.

Fuel pressure regulator is going bad, basically you are getting to much fuel into your cylinders and are causing hydro lock

SOURCE: 2001 isuzu rodeo has intermittent starting problems

check battery cables & terminals for tightness & corrosion.also check at starter.check starter bolts & actual starter for looseness.if no problems found your starter may be on its way out.next time it happens hit starter with hammer or heavy object if it starts right up get ready to replace it.good luck

Location or diagram Oil sending unit 98 isuzu hombre

what engine, THE CAR IS A GM s10 IN DRAG.
4.3L v6 Vortec 4300, GM
2.2l i-4, OHV ENGINE. NOT ISUZU!!!

In 1996, Isuzu replaced its Pick Up with a version of the Louisiana-built Chevrolet S-10, the Isuzu Hombre, based on the Brazilian market S-10
so google the vortec 4300
here Ill type for you....

on most v6, its near the oil gallery , on a bank.
so that means if youd look on both banks , the one with the 1 wire sensor is it.
but not this v6
its here.
log in to mitchell's and read, its all there.

My 1998 Isuzu Hombre will not stay in overdrive I have changed fluid @ & filter also seams like vacuum pressure is high like my breaks r engaged

breaks = brakes?
the brakes use vacuum but never changes it.
so...... if it does, the booster diaphram is cracked.
OD, can be just a bad OD. switch or more complex.
did you scan the TCM yet if it has one?

why state vacuum high, then not state the values seen?
you connect the gauge, and it reads what? 19inches HG at hot idle is common.
or 0.64 bar (outside usa you use BAR) as you said pressure word for vacuum and is ok in pure science that word) but make me think yoiu are not in USA? or Canada maybe....????

i bet vacuum is just ok.
the issues are with the transmission and its controls.
post is older, are you still having issues.
do say and we can link you up to FSM information on 0D.
the book covers this.... ever see a real FSM before.
the real factory service manual,, (buy one, and win?)
or if in USA , alldata.com is #1 online version of same.....
there are others, but nobody ever posts the country
making most answers wrong, including MINE.

i only have questions, after all im blind cant see car nor open hood.
so... what engine is there, transmissions match engines. so....

omg its really a chebby. Chevy
The pickup was also sold by Isuzu as the Hombre from 1996 through 2000, but only in North America
its not ISUZU at all.
you should know this and post to chevy, S10
2.2 liter or 4.3L engine
my guess is 4.3L with Brazil front sheet metal.

there are 12 control lines from the PCM puter,
and the transmission,
to find out why the OD fails
we first check all fuse..... (on all electric fails we do that)
then check levels hot, by the BOOK.
then scan the PCM for transmission errors, P07xx ? codes>

i look at the alldata. com at the Hombre 98 , pcm page.
schematics.
od .
we make sure no errors from PCM
then check the switch, to PCM for OD active.
if the input is ok.
then we check the solenoid voltages in OD.
if correct then the problem is ok, outside trans, and not inside.

This trans is electronically shifted.
and uses a computer (TCM)
so inputs must be right to TCM
an outputs correct. if not , never blame the tranny first.

1998 isuzu hombre will not start when temperature gets below 32 degrees

run fault codes and look for a faulty ambient temperature sensor as if it is faulty the ECM will not know to enrich the mixture ( like pulling on the choke)

I have a 1998 isuzu hombre pickup and early mornings or when the engine is cool the engine cranks right up but it seems when the engine gets hot it will turn over several times before cranking and when it...

usually a temp sensor on its way out. engine thinks it has cold air coming in so adjusts for that. but when warm air comes in the engine uses more fuel than it needs so will take longer to start. could also be the maf is dirty and needs cleaning as same as the MAP sensor, when replacing a dirty air filter its best to clean these parts as the muck that has been able to get through the filter will coat them with muck. this changes the sensors readings can become lower or high depending on the condition or evaporation in the air.

Where is the distribtor?

you have a DIS (direct ignition system) it consists of a coil pack, ignition module, crankshaft position sensor and ECM. there is 2 on your vehicle. if you have no spark check your crank sensor or ignition module. or goto local auto store and get a spark check for 5 bucks which plugs inline of the plug wires either at the coil or plugs.hope this helps

Isuzu Hombre pickup, 2.2L Vortec, Won't Start.

You need four things for an engine to run. 1. fuel 2. spark 3. compression 4. timing (spark at the right time. By your post it seems you have fuel and spark and you probably have compression unless you blew a head gasket. That leaves the timing. Check the timing and/or the timing belt or chain whichever you have.
