The most likely cause of your problem would be broken wires inside the conduit that runs between the body and the lift gate. This is VERY COMMON for most vehicles that are equipped with rear wiper systems. (It is also the first place I look when the high-mount brake lamp will not work and the bulb has no power going to it.)

SOURCE: rear wiper not working, replaced the fuse, still nothing.

There are three possible points of failure; the motor, the parking switch, and finally the switch that turns it on.
Obviously, the motor is located in the hatch itself but also there will be a parking switch that supplies power to the motor after the user switch is turned off and until the blade is in the park position. The user switch is of course located on the dash or in a stalk on the steering column.
To find the culprit (and for future use around the home and cars), I recommend that everyone should own a cheap digital multimeter. They are available from Radio Shack and auto parts stores for under $20 US and if you have a Harbor Freight Tool store in your area, for under $10 US.
This will give you the means to check for voltage at the motor and/or continuity of it. You should be able to eliminate the items that are working in 20 or 30 minutes.
These meters come with a simple Chinglish instruction sheet that will give you the basics in case you are not familiar with them.
You probably won't avoid opening up the inside panel(s) to gain access for your tests.

SOURCE: My rear windshield wiper stopped working on my

My 2005 tahoe did the same thing. I also bought a new motor, which did not fix. I discovered there was a bad ground. Instead of searching for bad ground, just install a short length of stranded wire with crimp terminals between a wiper motor mounting bolt and a rear glass latch assy mounting bolt to restore good grounding to the wiper motor.

Hi have an 07 trailblazer. The rear wiper motor only works if you unplug it and then plug it back in.

Sounds like a wiring problem:
1. One of the wires attached to a pin in the connector attached to the wiring at the motor (not on the motor) may be corroded or have come loose, making intermittent contact, or
2. One of the wires in the harness between the motor and the switch is crimped somewhere around the tailgate and is intermittently opening, or
3. A bad motor ground wire connection at the tailgate.

2001 expedition rear wiper and washer doesn't work

The rear wiper motor assembly may be defective/seized. You can try turning on the rear wiper and moving the wiper arm with your hand to see if it will move even a little bit. If you can coax it to move, the wiper motor is bad and needs replacement. If it doesn't move, you will have to disassemble the rear hatch panels and test the motor directly for power and ground.

Back windshield wiper won't turn on

Here are some more common problems.
  • Motor:
The wiper motor is commonly replaced and was often not the problem. Don't replace the motor yet. maybe it's not the motor. It could be a fuse or something at the wiper switch. The wiper motor has two windings, fast and slow. The wiper switch sends a ground signal to each motor winding. More often, there are problems with the relay, or at the wiper switch, or in the cable to the motor.
  • Windshield Washer:
Don't be too quick to replace the washer pump. The problem is often just a clog in the sprayer heads. You can clean out the sprayer holes with a needle, some have two holes, so look closely. Hope this helps.

Replaced rear wiper motor - but the new one does not work - tried another one but that wont work!!! checked both fuses in dash and engine compartment o.k ... I'm working on a 2001 chev suburban ... does...

Use a test light to see if there is even power going to the motor...then test if there is power going through th fuse...if there is power at the fuse but none at the motor then you have a broken wire that you have to trace... it is probably broken in the rubber gromit between the hatch and the body of the vehicle.

My windshield wipers don't work but the rear wipers and washer works..do I need to replace the wiper motor? If so, where is it located and how do I replace it?

Check fuses, front and back wiper motors run on different fuses. Test for power and ground at front wiper motor wires. If you have power and ground there your wiper motor may be toast. Good luck

The Rear Wipers on my 2001 1500 Chevy Suburban Stopped working

Unplug the connector at the rear wiper motor, turn the switch on and probe the wires with a test lamp, if you have power back there you more than likely have a bad motor. If there is no power start checking fuses they are all labeled easily on the back side of the fuseblock covers both on the dash and underhood. Good Luck!!!

Rear wiper does not work at all. front wipers work fine. rear washer works

1. check the fuse to the rear wiper motor
2. check for power to rear wiper motor at the motor (power wire going in to the wiper motor with rear wiper switch on)
If you have good fuses & have power going in to the rear wiper motor...
3. Pull old rear wiper motor and install a new rear wiper motor.
Thank you please drive thru......

Rear Windscreen wiper not working Seat Ibiza 2003

smonahan, The rear wiper fuse is actually a circuit breaker. It will reset itself.
Your wiper arm has probably stripped were it attaches to the motor shaft. You can check by trying to move the wiper arm with your hand, if it moves back and forth, its stripped. A new wiper arm will be needed.
Try it and let me know.
