1998 Chevy Tahoe Dies Out While Driving

My 1998 Chevrolet Tahoe kills while driving. It has happened only on long trips and the service engine light doe not come on. It starts back up and runs fine, but the engine has killed more than once, just not back to back. One time after the engine killed, I drove to gas station and it died while idling. I have been told that the electronic control module (ecm) could be overheating on long trips but I just want a second opinion. I went to a service station and the guy said if it didn't relay any signal to the computer via the engine light coming on, he could not diagnose it. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I would suspect fuel pump before an odd ecm problem. When was you last fuel filter? An extremely dirty filter will wipe out these fuel pumps if left in play too long.

Just picked up my 98 from the shop. They could not diagnose the problem. Truck just went dark after a road trip, started right back up. Then did it again in my neighborhood. Couldn't even turn on the flashers. Got it to the shop, tried to start it, nothing, ran cables, started right up. Charging system checked out, fuel pressure checked out. Battery checked out. The only idea they was that the inside connector on the neg post had come loose, if this happens the truck will go dark. I am gonna test their theory pronto. 11/12/2011

Security light remains on

This happens when the ignition can't read the key. If it is not starting when it does this. to fix this leave the key in the on position not running for 10 min or till the security key flashes and turn it off wait 5 seconds and then start it. If the light stays on and it is running just drive it like that put some electrical tape over the light. ours has bin on for 84,000 km and this no start thing has happened a few times this is a common gm problem. hope this helps you.

I have a 98 tahoe with the check engine light on. Code po753 shift solenoid A. how long or what will happen if I don't get it fixed right a way

It depends on how integrated the system is. You could conceivably burn out your transmission, or it could start to run really rough. hope this helps.
