I just had a transmission installed last April. Thats alittle more than a year ago. Please someone tell me im going crazy and that its not the transmission again!? It cost me $3,000 last year I cant afford that again!

SOURCE: ''check engine light'' illuminated, 1004 Hyundai, Santa Fe

If you live in the US, take it to qany Auto Zone store and thy will read the codes off for you, I would suspect any right thinking competitor would do the same, check if you don't have one near by.

Hope this is of some help.

Hi
It sounds like the transmission slipped. You need have the vehicle check for trouble codes and the trans. fluid level.

I'm trying to find the location of the transmission fuse in my 2001 hyundai santa fe.

If the fuse blew the car would still have a gear to get you home by default, so the fuse is not the problem, but if you would like to check it is under the hood.

Car will not shift out of 1st gear

Did the 'Check Engine' Light come ON? Whenever the 'CHECK ENGINE' light comes on, the ECU (Engine Control Unit) sets a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC). These codes identify the particular engine management system which caused the light to come on.
You'll need to use/find an OBDII (On-Board Diagnostic) Scanner to retrieve any code which have been stored in the ECU computer. Afterward, we might be able to help you DIAGNOSE and perhaps eventually fix the problem.

2001 hyundai santa fe, was running fine, went to crank it, all lights and chimes work, but it will not start. Not the battery, not the starter, thought possibly it was a transponder key, but was informed...

dear friend:this might sound stupid, but remove the key from the barrel and try again, then see if the dash lights dim when trying to start,if it does the battery is to flat to turn the engine,if it is a auto shift the lever slightly forward and backward to make sure it is not the neutral switch.

2001 Hyundai Santa Fe 78K miles on it...purchased 8/04 began having problems 10/08. Car starts no problem. After sriving for 10 minutes when coming to a stop the car feels like it does not want to stop,...

TRY THESE TWO (2) THINGS..
Step 1: Disconnect the battery cables and touch them together for 30 seconds (this ZERO'S out the PCM/ECM (Power Train Control Module/Engine Control Module). If there's GARBAGE in memory of this computer (PCM/ECM), this should CLEAR it.
Step 2: Check the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS, it's a potentiometer) for any ERRATIC resistance changes at idle position or any other position for that matter. If you find, what I call BAD SPOTS, in the TPS, replace it. I know of NOTHING ELSE which would cause the problem you describe and NOT turn on the "Check Engine" light
