Dodge 2500 auto harsh shift problems

06 Dodge 2500 Cummins auto feels like a harsh erratic shift up or down, or very hard converter lock or unlock. May happen 2 or 3 times in 5 minutes, or once a month. It happens whether it is towing or empty, if my wife or I drive. Usually around 50 to 70 mph. May happen more often under acceleration.

Feels like the old style shift kits when they hammered the clutches closed. Sometimes very violent.

Yes and they said the computer showed no errors. They had an update for the truck, but told me it had nothing to do with the transmission.

Have you checked with dealer to see if possible updates need to be done on it. Sometimes it's a easy as a quick scan & update.

I have a Dodge 3500 Ram with an Automatic 6 speed transmission. I pull a Gooseneck trailer with a GVW of 16k lbs. I have no issues when I am on the road, but when I leave the highway or I'm in heavy...

sounds like you may havea torque converter lockup issue, one way to check is while in slower traffic (15-35mph) gear down your transmission such that you are at a higher rpm (2000-2500) then take your foot all the way off the throttle, if it is in lockup your engine rpm will stay about the same, if not it will go to about idle.

If the tcc doesn't unlock while shifting it will shift very hard and if it slips it will make your temperature increase

My dodge ram 2500 cummins is making a rattling noise when its idling

Depends what the rattling is really... If it's the engine , could need a valve adjustment... I've also heard of torque converters make a rattle when going bad, but only when in drive or reverse

Transmission is shifting hard and slow to pull on a 95 silouette also makes clucking sounds while accelerating

Shift suddenly become very hard. When going from park to either reverse or drive it slams into gear. 1-2 and 2-3 shifts are also harsh. All gears seems to work. Problem may be intermittent: Check TPS for smooth and linear electrical response over the entire range of motion. If not, replace.

Extremely harsh shifts from P or N, normal shifts at WOT: EPC (Electronic Pressure Control) solenoid failed. Easy fix in pan. Fix as soon as possible or hard parts will eventually break.

No 1st or 4th available; trans shifts 2nd to 3rd by itself in D or OD and locks the converter : ShiftA solenoid failed. Easy fix in the pan. Or a wiring problem from PCM to trans.. or PCM.

Car goes into gear but feels very sluggish like the brakes are dragging, but it will roll easily (starts out in 4th gear), you manually shift to 2 to get it moving, once it's moving you put it back in OD and the car shifts 3rd to 4th on its own and locks the converter at the appropriate time: ShiftB solenoid failed: Easy fix in the pan. Or a wiring problem from PCM to trans.. or PCM.

2003 Dodge 4x4 2500 drive shaft popping when in 4x4

sounds like the acuator on the axle isn't locking the axels together and allowing them to slip you can check it by removing the actuator and looking at the collar and splines on the shafts.
