Sounds like it's running in closed loop. O2 sensor, MAP sensor, or MAF sensor...sensor issues

SOURCE: run hard at 2500 rpm 96 nissan pickup 2.4 5 speed

I had a similar problem mine would hit a rev limiter at 3500 rpms. it would blow black sut out of the tail pipe. Ended up being mass air flow sensor/valorem sensor. almost 500.00 from nissan. fixed it though.

SOURCE: My truck began running very rich little by little.

FROM WHAT I FOUND OUT ON MY SAME TRK ONLY 94' IS THE DIAPHRAM ON THE FUEL PRESSURE REGUALTOR IS SLUGGISH OR BLOWN. DISCONNECTING THE VACCUM LINE AND PLUGGING THE MANIFORD PORT HAS HELPED UNTIL I AM ABLE TO AFFORD THE REGULATOR. TO HELP CLEAN THE OXY SENSOR, SPEED UP THE IDLE AND DISSCONNECT THE BRAKE BOOSTER VACCUM LINE AT THE ENGINE. THE FRESH AIR WILL SOMEWHAT HELP CLEAN THE SENSOR IF IT IS ABLE TO BE HELPED. I AM TOLD THAT THE OXY SENSOR ON THESE MODELS IS CRIDICAL. JACK

We are having the same problem. We are right now changing the crankshaft position sensor along with the intake and manifold gaskets.

I have a 95 Ford F350 with the 460 motor. It started running fine when cold but after it warms up it starts to run rough, lose power, and runs REAL rich. I'm only getting a little more than 2mpg.

It Sounds like it is staying in the "cold start" routine. It also sounds like the diagnostic computer is not working right, because it must be rich and the O2 is not telling you a thing.

I would start by looking for a temperature sensor. You may have 2, with 1 being for the dash and the other being for the engine controls. You want to replace the temperature sensor for the Engine controls. This will help get it out of "cold start" routine.

Change your thermostat. The onboard computer does not monitor operating temperature.

Fuel pressure regulator. Have pressure checked. It could be forcing too much gas in each time an injector opens.

If you can not do this yourself, tow it in. At 2 mpg it may be cheaper to tow it than to drive any distance for repair. The Mechanics are going to need some gas left over in it to work on the engine.

Also turn on ignition and energize the fuel pressure, check for leaking fuel lines. Put on fuelcap locks if fuel drops when parked.

For this much of an extreme problem, I would like to know what you find wrong with it. I hope my solutions help.

93 chevy lumina runs rough dies and won't start after it warms up

Back firing is usually an indication of a timing issue

The timing chain is most likely worn & jumped a couple
of teeth or the distributor was installed wrong,if you recently

When my buick century 1995 is cold it will start but won't rev up. once it is hot it runs okay

Number of possibilities. See if you have any diagnostic codes stored. Could be throttle position sensor, coolant temp. sensor, hard to say. I would start with the codes. Does it start easy when warmed up, and run good? Boy, I just don't know.
