Hi, does it run fine when its cold then play up when it gets warm or up to near normal running temp, if this is the case then the chances are the oxygen sensor needs replacing, if it runs rough from cold then it could be mass air flower sensor

SOURCE: 2003 vw jetta tdi fuel filter

It is on the passenger side right behind the washer fluid fill tube. You can follow the fuel lines (look like 1/4" black tubes, some are clear) from the injector pump to it. It is a caniser a bit bigger than a normal looking oil filter and sits between the washer bottle and the metal that forms the wheel well. It is held in by a screw type clamp about half way down the cylinder. Probably isn't the fuel filter unless there is air in the lines to the injector pump or they didn't bother to fill the fuel filter up with diesel after putting it in. There is not a fuel pump in the tank in these cars so everything is sucked up by the injector pump and it needs to be primed properly.

SOURCE: Changed oil in 05 vw jetta and exhaust light came on.

Hi Dohn. The save levelto fill you oil is 3/4 from empty on your dip stick. This gives the engine space to breath. What has most likely happened here is, the engine has had too much oil and is trying to find a way out which will end up on your drive or through yor exhaust.

SOURCE: VW POLO 1.6 2002 classic

I have already a solution to my problem. Remember, when I posted, that my 1997 VW Polo Classic, that it won't start even it has sparks coming from the "spark plugs" and the timing was set already. Yesterday, My mechanic was puzzled, why the intake manifold has a very low pressure. Just this morning when he opened. It was clogged with "tartar" like material. It includes the valve & piston. Therefore, it is impossible to have combustion. Because, it lacks the fuel & air even how much sparks is present. I hope this could help to VW cars owners having the same trouble.

How to Replace leaking Oil filter housing 1997 VW Jetta 2.0 Gas

Remove the oil filter and there is a nut that you take off (same threads as oil filter) the oil filter adapter will become loose, continue to slide it off, on the engine side of the adapter is the O-Ring, replace the o-ring and install in reverse order.

Ive purchased used 1997 vw jetta with 2.0, want to change oil and filter, any recommendations/instructions

I would go with a good synthetic oil and a Fram oil filter. A oil filter wrench maybe helpful. Also check the belts, hoses and air filter/fuel filter and all other fluid levels.

My `1997 Subaru legacy outback wagon ,my gas mileage went from 21 MPH to 15 MPH. What do you think is wrong.

if there are no major problems present all it needs is a tune up(spark plugs, fule filter, oil change, air filter, fule injector cleaner). for a upgrade in fuel economy add a short ram intake, parts are fairly easy to install.

Lost my oil out of 1997 vw jetta as I was driving. The bell went with the flashing oil light on the dash. pulled over right away. It appears to be trickling out from somewhere. The whole oil pan is covered...

The Gasket between the Oil Cooler and the block has ruptured. This is right above the oil filter and can be gotten to by removing the filter, then removing the 30mm nut holding the cooler to the block. this is a special gasket so use the correct one.
