On the starter there is a big battery cable and a small signal. wire connect a test light to the signal wire and try to crank the engine. if the light comes on then you will need a starter. be sure you have good connections first good luck.bye the way the light should only be on when you hold the key in crank pos.if the light is on all the time you are on the wrong wire.

On a 2004 dodge durango, 4.7l turns over but won't start. It did it 2weeks ago was told electrical problem n fixed. Did it again 3 days ago and it started without anyone doing anything to it the following...

Durangos are known for crank sensors to go bad. Make sure that your battery is fully charged so you know that isn't an issue. If you don't have the proper equipment, try this.. Your going to need someone else's help for this. Pull one of the spark plug wires, using a screwdriver, put the tip of the screwdriver into the wire and hold the shaft of the screwdriver about a quarter inch away from a good ground source. Have your assistant turn the key and crank the engine while you check to see if you have spark. If you can, visit your local parts store and ask for a noid light that will fit your vehicle. It's usually about $10-$12. The purpose of the noid light is to check for injector pulse. Disconnect the plug for the injector and connect the noid light in it's place. Once again, crank the engine and check to see if the noid light lights up and pulses. If the crank sensor is bad, you should have no spark and no injector pulse. Replace crank sensor if so. If you have spark, check for fuel and or fuel pressure. Listen for the fuel pump to energize when the key is turned. Also try spraying starting fluid into the throttle body. If it starts, your having fuel issues. I hope these tips help. Good luck.

If it were my vehicle and knowing what I know about no starts, that is diffinently where I would start. Hope this helps and have an awesome day Sheila.

HELP with my problem to my Question and added details

A good hot battery shoulde do it. Have you had any problems with the security system? That's all that should keep it from starting now. Have you put a socket on the crank bolt to make sure the engine is not seized and turns freely?
Good luck.

When i turn the key the car just clicks

How's your battery ?

Turn on your headlights , then crank enging , IF lights dim completely its a battery condition problem. If the lights stay on full and you just get a click sound it the starter motor (conection or condition)
Good Luck

99 cougar won't start

Is the clicking sound from under the dash or under the hood? Does the engine crank over?

Starting help

have you checked the battery and the cables?
put a wrench on the crank pulley, you should be able to turn it .that would rule out the engine is not seized.
a click like that can result from a bad connection on the battery.
jumpstart it being careful about polarity and put the ground on the engine, not the battery

2004 dodge durango won't start

If you haven't had an alternator / charging warning light on, i would suggest it's the battery, or dirty connections.
