My car alarm keeps going off by itself. My lights used to flash when I armed the alarm now no lights just door lock. when the alrm goes off all lights, and horn.I have bought a watch battery for the remote. It worked right only once but I dont know if that is even the problem. Also my battery has been low and I just replaced it with a new one.

To arm content theft alarm. 1. Open the door. 2. Lock the door with the power door lock switch or the remote keyless entry transmitter. The SECURITY light should flash. 3. Close all doors. The SECURITY light should go off after approximately 30 seconds. The alarm is not armed until the SECURITY light goes off.
If a locked door is opened without the key or the remote keyless entry transmitter, the alarm will go off. The headlamps and parking lamps will flash for two minutes, and the horn will sound for 30 seconds, then will turn off to save the battery power.
This could be your micro switch in the door lock itself , by a vw golf type four and other modelss you have an automatic locking function if you unlock your door but don't open it and most of the time it's the passengers door as it is used the least.firstly check the wiring to the lock and between the door and the body then checck the micro switch on the lock if its correctly seated and if its make a click when you press on the metal arm .
usualy there is a switch on the driver and passener side, try disarming by unlocking drivers door with the key to disarm the factory alarm, or the passenger door. this should turn off the alarm if it is not aftermarket. the factory alarm will arm any time the door is locked by key or power door lock. good luck
Are you using the the keychain to lock unlock the vehicle? A low battery in the keychain will send wacky codes to your vehicle alarm system and will not set properly. Try using the key in the door to lock unlock vehicle. IF the alrm does not go off when using the key in the door, then you probably have to change the battery in the key chain. Best guess without being there to look at vheicle.
The security alarm system on the 1994 Jeep Cherokee arms itself on any normal exit from the vehicle, i.e. ignition off, open door, lock door with power door locks, close door. If the doors are locked with the key, it does not arm. If the battery is disconnected, then reconnected, the alarm system will go into powerup alarm mode. The lights will flash, but the horn will not blow. The alarms can be disarmed by a keyless vehicle remote or by unlocking either of the front doors or the read lift gate with the key. If the key method does not work with any of those three entrances, there is a problem either with the input to the alarm module or the module itself. There is a switch in both front doors and the tailgate which is activated by manualy unlocking those doors. The alarms can be disabled by permanently grounding the wire going from either of those switches to the alarm module, but this will remove all theft protection. The best thing to do is to find out why the system is going off in the first place. It could just be a glitch, a loose connection that can be fixed fairly easily and keep your theft protection intact.
it is detecting a problem....could be a dirty key or bad chip in the key....try this.....set the alarm by locking the door using the power lock switch and then close the door...the security light should come on steady for about 2 minutes and then go out.....the alarm is armed at this point.....you can unlock the drivers door using the key to reset the alarm.....if you do this with the windows down you can open the door from the inside to set the alarm off and see if it works properly by flashing lights and horn....after you trigger the alarm you will have to reset it by using the key on the drivers door....
do you hear the doors lock? if so its probably the alarm its self an will have to go to the dealer.if you dont hear the doors lock then the remote either isnt working or simply needs battery.
