SOURCE: 240d mercedes. automatic door locks seldom work.

Very common. The rubber diaphrams and checkvalve o rings do not last forever, and they begin to leak. The most common one is the driver side's vacuum door lock valve. This one is activated when your key turns the lock and diverts the valve's vacuum, which activates the other door's plungers to open. This is the one to fix first, and it requires that you remove the inside door hardware and panel to reach it. Buy a new valve ahead of time so you don't have to take it apart again. Then try the system. If it works but still not well, then get ready to test the other vacuum pods: Trunk, gas cap, center dash (HVAC). The center dash pod is fairly common and a bit difficult to reach (I would go through the center dash' vent with one hand, and the removed glovebox with the other) to replace the center. Check the web for the detail on that one because it requires taking the pod apart while its still attached to its bracket under the dash) Not fun, but better than removing the entire dash. In the end, troublshooting - specially without a vacuum pump (you can get a hand held one from an autostore) - is tedious and is by trial and error and replacing the pods. But, either you do it, or be charged $75/hr and no gaurantee the leak can be found. New door valve is about $20 and the dash pod $25.

On the 05 Odyssey there's a problem with the rear latch assembly(about $140each) located in the rear of each sliding door. The problem is that the latch assembly was not seal proplery and water can get into the latch cause the sliding door to act funny. Maybe replace the latch assembly will help you.

I have a 1999 Mercedes S320, Do you know how the trunk and doors will automatically compress when you close them. For example when I close my trunk it is suppose to compress tightly once I manually close...

There are 2 pneumatic pumps in your vehicle. one is vacuum and is for your central locking, located under your rear seat bench. The other is pressure and is called your closing assist pump. It is in the trunk behind the rear liner. It also operates you reverse antennas(optional). Your doors and trunk lid are closed by pressure valves that work like little teeter totters. There is an updated relay called a convenience relay located in the right side of the trunk. It stores all the window paramers(for express up and down) as well as your closing assist parameters. In the right side of the trunk there is a fuse box. If you remove the closing assist fuse( I beleive it is # 15) for 15 seconds and then reinstall it, the parameters for your closing assist will be reset. It is possible that your vehicle already has the updated relay(called a relay but actually a microprocessor) and there is a leak in the system. After reinstalling the fuse you can see what doesn't work( one of the doors or trunk, reverse antenna) and isolate the faulty component. If everything works o.k. let it be because they have always been problematic and when they happen to fail just reset it. hopefully I have been helpful.

2004 dodge ram crew cab need rear doors to unlock automatically

Check the manual. There are a number of ways this can either be programmed in the convenience module, or by flipping a lever on the door near the latch (open the door, look where the latch is on the end of the door. There is a little lever that should be marked.).

I had a 2002 Odyssey with the same problem. I cleaned around the micro switch at the bottom rear of the door and checked the door roller bracket screws. The screws were loose so I tightened them and also sprayed the switch with electrical contact cleaner (special stuff that leaves no residue). Apparently this helped the contacts in the switch to close properly and the door was able to reset and work. Good luck.
