The warning unit may not be working, therefore it won't errase the light. You may be able to reset it by taking the hot side post off for a minute or two.

2005 CTS-V WITH A CHEVY 350 OIL RUNS HOT ,WHI IS THERE A PLACE BESIDE THE OIL FILTER THAT LOOKS LIKE A OIL COOLER COULD BEEN THER BUT INSTED ITS TWO 10 MM BOLTS ON A PLATE UNDER IT LOOKS LIKE A OIL

Only one question? Is the temp sender telling the truth? When it tells you its hot can you sample the oil with a basic thermometer? After a run I would expect it to be around 80C, anything near 100C + is on the high side. Try checking it against a barbeque thermometer/ meat thermo to get some idea.

Cadillac CTS 3.6L V6 - The water in the water reservoir is mixed with what appears to be either engine or transmission oil.

If it is transmission fluid it is likely the heat exchanger (or cooler) has sprung a leak. The cooler is often integrated into the main radiator bottom tank. If fluid is entering the cooling system it is possible coolant could be entering the transmission.

Tranny fluid will appear clean and floating on the surface of the coolant and is likely to be pink or red while if it is engine oil it will be an altogether dirtier colour and more viscous. Try capturing a sample with some clean white tissue when the engine is cold.

Engine oil in the coolant could be a sign of a failing cylinder head gasket.
A failing head gasket is likely to produce unusual cooling system symptoms including ejecting coolant from the reservoir while a leaky tranny oil cooler is unlikely to have much effect on cooling system behaviour except for the obvious...

Oil is mixing in water container causing car to over heat. What could be wrong?

The oil cooler is located under the intake manifold. The cooler has probably opened up and allowing the higher pressure oil into the cooling system. After replacing the oil cooler you should flush the cooling system.

The dealer was more than likely referring to the "intercooler" -- part of the turbocharger.

Oil cooler

You will need to have repaired/replaced. cooling system will need to be flushed and it is best to replace all hoses as the oil will soften the rubber and cause to swell and pop. be sure to have overflow tank flushed out as well. was this the trans cooler? will need to change tranny fluid also.or engine oil which ever.
