With the horn you can run a wire from the battery to the horn to check it if that dosent work then it is probably the contact wire inside the steering column, I cant remember the name of the part but this should fix the horn and cruise problem.

the name of the part is the clock spring.

1998ford explorer horn doesnt work

If the fuse is OK, check if you have power at the horn, if yes, replace the horn, if not check the switch or wire. make sure you have a good ground too.

Horn problem on 2001 ford explorer xlt

Hi there,

Inspect the following components, in this order (with key off) until you get it working:

** Disconnect the plugs from the Horn terminals. Run separate jumper wires from the Batt (NEG & POS), to the horn. If horn does not work, then replace horn. If horn works fine, then continue....

** Check fuse # 10 (15A), in the Battery Junction Box - replace if defective. Check horn operation.

** Check Horn Relay (also in the Battery Junction Box) - remove the relay, give it a gentle tap, and plug back in. Check horn operation.

If all the above prove ok, then the fault lies in your steering wheel/horn switch assembly.

Cheers,

The horn does not work on my 2000 Ford Explorer. does it have a horn fuse, if so, where is it? does it have a relay, where is it?

it does have a fuse/relay. It should be located in the fuse box under the dash. If not that one, the fuse box in the engine compartment

My horn is not working . Where is the horn located

the explorer has two horns, they are both mounted under the driver's side headlight behind the front bumper. you will need to remove the splash shield to get to them. Hope this helps you

I have a 96 explorer xlt v6 has alarm that works thru the horns. the horns quit working checked fuses in dash no burnt ones looked for horns or horn under hood could not locate where they were. doug

The horns are located on the left side of the radiator
support. To check them, use a jumper wire from the
+post on the battery unplug the horn and touch the
wire to the horn contact. If it toots check the horn relay in the power dist. box on the left fender. Also
check fuse #4 a 20amp fuse in the same dist box.
But if the horn won't toot replace the horn. If none of
the things I've mentioned pan out. You can get back
to us and we'll dig a little deeper. Good luck.

Horn works, fuse is good, yet can't activate horn from steering wheel.

If you press the horn button, can you hear the horn relay?
If not, it could be the horn button, or the relay,
If you hear it click on and off it is then likely the relay.
Test the horn button with a meter. if it is working, replace the horn relay.

Hope this is of some help.
