Repressure test cylinders ,may have damaged head gasket in reassembly, heads might not be flat [slight warpage] may have damaged cylinder wall ,[water jacket ] block may not be flat ,and check the intake manifold itself and the gaskets for leaks can cause antifreeze to seep into engine

SOURCE: blown head gasket how much to repair?

You may be better replacing the whole engine with a rebuilt. It's going to cost close to $1000.00 to repair and you can buy a rebuilt for just $1700.00 and you know the engine is fresh. With a blown head gasket you have the fear of antifreeze contamination in your engine oil. The antifreeze is corrosive to the crankshaft bearings and you may be looking at bearing replacement also. If the body is good, you can always try to find another 1997 cavalier with less miles and swap out the engine. Seen most cavalier around that year for sale starting at $500.00 and another $300.00 for labor to do the swap. Good luck and sorry about the bad news. Keep me posted, be glad to help.

It blows white smoke out the tail pipe when i start it

You must have a leaking engine cylinder head gasket. Have a local shop confirm this for you as it is a very expensive repair.

My smoke comes through my pipe

Well, it's the type of smoke that really matters. Does it smoke black? Blue? White? White for the first ~2 miles/5 minutes of warm up is not a bad thing, just blowing out condensation. White smoke that never stops is a sign your head is warped/head gasket is busted. Blue smoke is a sign that you're burning oil bad. Black smoke indicates an overly rich fuel condition.

Just started to noticed white smoke coming out of exaust pipe. Noticed smell of gas. Is this normal for a car this old

Looks like you have a blown head-gasket. The white smoke is actually your engine coolant mixing with your engine oil and being expelled as a water vapor. You need to take it into a repair shop Immediately.

Grand prix has a 3.1 6cyl. and 166000 mile, it blow white smoke

Sorry to inform you of the bad news but the white smoke is engine coolant burning off and the rough running condition is also associated with coolant leaking into the combustion chambers. This will be a head gasket repair, basically a head job where you will need to machine the heads down and install new gaskets from the heads up.Get back to me if you have any more questions, thanks and I hope I could help!!!

2004 Dodge Ram Backfiring and blowing Muffler

White smoke....Means a Blown Head gasket.. Now its not bad enough to stop the vehicle from running but its bad enough, to blow out white smoke..now sooner or later it will stop completly, but you dont want to warp the cylinder heads too bad, then you will have to replace them also, so you might want to fix this problem as soon as possible...and the muffler keeps going bad, becasue it is filling up with coolant/ or too much water, which it is not designed to do..You also maybe doing damage to your cat. converters also...so be careful....And Goodluck, and keep me posted...

Blowing light smoke and burnning engine oil

Blue smoke is usually oil burnig related. White smoke is due to coolant mixing with the oil. (Head gasket leak) You should have the coolant system pressurized by a garage to see if your system holds pressure. This test will tell a lot. Coolant in the oil is a big problem.

Dear Sir, Problem is that engine was blowing white smoke and burning the engine oil after 500 km as half liter or more and I got repairing and my technician replaced its ring piston and other related...

The piston rings were a good idea but not necessarily a problem. The white smoke could be from a bad head gasket, cracked head or cracked block.
